Calibration Technician III

Under general supervision, performs advanced journey level calibration duties; tests, calibrates, and repairs electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical and electronic measuring, recording and indicating instruments and equipment for conformance to established standards. Provides lead supervision, technical assistance and training to other staff and independently performs highly technical and specialized calibration duties.

Job Responsabilities:

Calibrates complex electrical/electronic precision measuring and testing equipment
Evaluates equipment condition and troubleshoot/repair instruments.
Performs mechanical inspection of critical mechanical components.
Develops calibration methods on new equipments
Writes and evaluates calibration procedures on SOP’s
Participates in equipment’s validations, and failure analysis
Maintain accuracy, filing and storage of calibration records to comply with FDA and company policies
Maintain outside vendors contact for technical support and parts ordering
Use computerized equipment and software to perform testing function
Ensure all equipment are calibrated and certified
Generates memos and reports
Complies with all Company policies and procedures, including safety rules and regulations
Works as a member of a team to achieve all outcomes

Qualifications:
Education

Associate’s Degree in metrology, electronic/electrical technology or a related field from an accredited college or university

Knowledge and Abilities

Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Food and Drug (FDA) and other regulatory requirement.
Principals and practices of metrology
Electronics and electrical systems
Principles of mathematical and statistical computations
Techniques of instrumentation repair
Techniques of calibration (temperature, pressure, dimensional, mass, humidify)
NIST Standards – maintenance and laboratory
English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation
Computer operations and Microsoft programs ( Word, Access, and Excel)
Organize and maintain Metrology Laboratory and all NIST Standards equipment
Research and prepare calibration procedures for new instrumentation
Writing and developing calibration procedures
Communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work

Experience

A minimum of five (5) years of work experience as a Calibration Technician II including two or more years of experience organizing and maintaining Metrology Laboratory and Standards Equipment, preferably in drugs, cosmetic, or food industry, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
