Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer to join our Supply Chain team. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing both commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and custom-manufactured components that support business operations and production requirements.

The ideal candidate will build strong supplier partnerships, manage procurement activities from sourcing through delivery, and proactively resolve supply chain challenges. This position requires a combination of strategic sourcing expertise, supplier relationship management, technical aptitude, and strong organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities

Source and procure COTS and custom-manufactured components, materials, and hardware.

Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, gaining a thorough understanding of supplier capabilities, capacity, lead times, quality standards, and manufacturing expertise.

Evaluate and qualify suppliers to ensure quality, cost, delivery, and performance expectations are met.

Review engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical documentation to determine procurement requirements.

Solicit quotations, analyze supplier proposals, negotiate pricing and delivery schedules, and issue purchase orders.

Ensure purchase orders accurately reflect specifications, revisions, quantities, quality requirements, and delivery expectations.

Manage purchase orders from placement through receipt, ensuring on-time delivery and issue resolution.

Monitor supplier performance and proactively communicate risks, delays, shortages, or other supply chain concerns to internal stakeholders.

Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, and Operations teams to support business objectives.

Manage return material authorizations (RMAs), supplier corrective actions, and product replacement activities through resolution.

Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier, and inventory records within ERP/MRP systems.

Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve supplier performance, shorten lead times, and mitigate supply chain risks.

Track and report purchasing metrics and supplier performance indicators to leadership.

Ensure compliance with procurement procedures, quality requirements, and company policies.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred. Equivalent professional experience will be considered.

3+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, materials management, or sourcing.

Experience procuring both standard commercial products and custom-manufactured components.

Strong proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.

Experience working within an MRP-driven environment is preferred.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, manufacturing documents, and technical requirements.

Understanding of supplier manufacturing processes and capabilities.

Strong negotiation, supplier management, and relationship-building skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, electronics, telecommunications, or other highly regulated industries.

Experience with supplier qualification, vendor development, and strategic sourcing initiatives.

Familiarity with Costpoint, Jira, Vault, or similar enterprise software platforms.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orlando, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.04 - $36.06/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
