Job Title: Business Support Specialist – Industrial Division

Job Description

The Business Support Specialist plays a key role in supporting industrial customers across multiple sectors by serving as their primary point of contact for orders, technical inquiries, and ongoing relationship management. This on-site position in the Birmingham/Bessemer, AL area focuses on delivering detailed, accurate service, strengthening customer loyalty, and supporting the full lifecycle of industrial orders in a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with industrial and OEM customers, promoting loyalty and satisfaction.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries via phone, email, and other channels, responding promptly and professionally.
• Proactively identify opportunities to support customer operations and recommend appropriate product solutions.
• Maintain detailed and accurate customer information, activity records, and interactions in the CRM system.
• Provide accurate price quotations and process customer orders from initial request through completion.
• Answer product and application questions confidently, leveraging industrial, manufacturing, or technical experience.
• Translate customer technical needs into effective product recommendations and solutions.
• Monitor and communicate account receivables and payment status where applicable, including basic collections and A/R follow-up.
• Enter and manage orders accurately using WebERP and internal platforms, ensuring data integrity and completeness.
• Confirm pricing, terms, lead times, and product details to support error-free order fulfillment.
• Partner with logistics and production teams to ensure timely shipment and delivery of customer orders.
• Oversee the entire lifecycle of an order, including entry, tracking progress, updating customers, and supporting the sales team with order-related questions.
• Identify and suggest process improvements that enhance order flow, accuracy, and overall customer satisfaction.
• Collaborate closely with sales engineers, outside sales representatives, territory managers, and corporate personnel to deliver seamless service.
• Coordinate between departments to resolve customer or order issues quickly and efficiently.
• Support territory managers and participate in projects that promote customer engagement and retention.
• Maintain a positive, solutions-oriented approach in all customer and internal interactions.
• Communicate clearly, concisely, and respectfully with colleagues and customers across teams and time zones.
• Demonstrate professionalism and reliability as a trusted technical resource and partner.
• Manage multiple priorities effectively, working independently once trained while remaining organized and responsible.
• Embrace repetitive tasks and variable workloads, handling both slow and very busy days with consistency and attention to detail.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or technical sales/service environment, such as process equipment, fluid handling, spray technology, or related fields.
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook.
• Computer literacy and comfort with data entry and working in multiple systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for customer and internal team interactions.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently once trained while maintaining a high level of responsibility and ownership.
• Confidence in speaking with customers and internal sales teams about orders, status updates, and technical questions.
• Ability to handle repetitive tasks while maintaining quality and consistency.
• Process-oriented mindset with a focus on following and improving established workflows.
• Comfort learning from mistakes and applying feedback to improve performance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience using Microsoft CRM for tracking customer interactions and activities.
• Familiarity with Power BI for reporting and data analysis.
• Experience with ERP systems, especially WebERP or similar platforms.
• Prior experience supporting field sales teams or industrial customers in a technical or order management capacity.
• Comfort with collections and accounts receivable follow-up.
• Background in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Strong multitasking skills and ability to remain proactive in managing customer needs.
• Basic Excel familiarity beyond simple data entry, such as sorting, filtering, and using basic formulas.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, on-site office role based in the Bessemer/Birmingham, AL area, working standard hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The environment is industrial-focused and highly collaborative, with close interaction between customer support, sales engineers, logistics, and production teams. Occasional travel to corporate offices and sales offices, including recommended trips to Chicago once or twice a year for training, may be part of the role and is typically supported with dedicated training opportunities.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bessemer, AL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
