Business Development Representative - Motors & Drives (National Division)

Remote Anywhere in the U.S. or On-Site at an ESR Location

The Opportunity

ESR Motor Systems is seeking an experienced Business Development Representative to generate new business for our National Division by selling industrial electric motors, variable frequency drives, gearboxes, and related power transmission products to reseller customers across the United States.

Our National Division primarily serves electric motor repair shops, power transmission distributors, and electrical distributors. Your primary responsibility will be developing new customers through outbound phone calls, video meetings, email, and other direct sales outreach.

This is a true new-business development role. You will identify prospects, build relationships, uncover opportunities, and convert those opportunities into long-term customers. You may prepare quotes and work directly with customers on sales opportunities, while order processing and routine transactional support are handled by other members of the team.

The accounts you develop become your accounts. You will continue growing those relationships and earn commission based on the gross profit generated by the customers you bring to ESR.

This position may be fully remote from anywhere in the United States or based at one of our seven locations in Rock Hill, SC; Atlanta, GA; Mechanicsburg, PA; Indianapolis, IN; Houston, TX; Grand Prairie, TX; or San Antonio, TX. Occasional customer travel may be required.

What You’ll Do

• Prospect for new reseller customers through outbound calls, email, video meetings, and other direct outreach.
• Build relationships with qualified prospects and understand their business and purchasing needs.
• Convert prospects into active, long-term ESR customers.
• Prepare and follow up on quotations when appropriate.
• Maintain ownership of the accounts you develop and continue growing those relationships.
• Work closely with ESR’s inside sales team, which provides order-processing and transactional support.
• Maintain accurate prospect and opportunity information in ESR’s CRM and ERP systems.
• Occasionally travel to meet prospects and customers in person.
• Build toward approximately $1 million in new sales within your first 18 months.

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of electric motor, power transmission, or closely related industrial sales experience; 5+ years preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of industrial electric motors and related products.
• Proven success with outbound phone and email prospecting.
• Strong ability to build rapport and credibility with industrial customers.
• Persistence, confidence, and a willingness to consistently initiate new customer conversations.
• Excellent communication, follow-up, organization, and time-management skills.
• Self-motivated and accountable, with the discipline to succeed in a remote or independently managed environment.
• Comfortable using CRM, ERP, email, video conferencing, and other sales technology.
• Medium-voltage motor sales experience is a plus.

Compensation

• Base salary: $75,000–$85,000, depending on experience and industry knowledge.
• Uncapped commission based on gross profit generated by the accounts you develop.
