Business Development Manager
USA – Home-based (Some travel)

As our Business Development Manager, you’ll be responsible for driving new business and building a strong sales pipeline for Compliance Navigator across the medical device sector.

You’ll focus on identifying and developing opportunities within an agreed target prospect list, quickly building relationships with potential customers and converting opportunities into sales. We’re looking for someone with a proven track record of successfully selling information solutions within the medical device or a related market.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across Knowledge Solutions and Regulatory Services, you’ll coordinate efforts across the business to support new business development and continued growth of Compliance Navigator.

The salary for this position ranges from $85,000–$105,000, plus commission. Actual compensation is based on various factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s competencies, level of experience, education, location, divisional budget, and internal peer compensation comparisons.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

• Build and maintain a strong, rolling sales pipeline to support achievement of sales and revenue targets.
• Manage prospects and opportunities effectively, ensuring pipeline activity and progress are accurately tracked and reported.
• Develop clear, professional commercial proposals that demonstrate BSI’s products and services.
• Deliver effective presentations and product demonstrations to prospective customers.
• Develop and maintain detailed product knowledge, using this to understand customer challenges, identify requirements and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date sales activity and opportunity information within Salesforce (SFDC) and relevant sales tracking systems.
• Complete required tasks, reports and projects within agreed timescales.
• Uphold BSI’s values, policies and commitments in all customer and business interactions.

To be successful in the role, you will have

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels internally and externally.
• Strong planning and prioritisation skills, with the ability to balance customer requirements and wider business needs.
• The ability to listen to customers, understand their needs and ask effective questions to identify appropriate solutions.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, including the ability to apply new information to current and future opportunities.
• Confidence working with commercial costings and basic calculations, including percentages.
• Proficiency in commonly used software, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to quickly learn and navigate company-specific business systems.
• A commitment to continuously developing your knowledge of the market, customers and products.
• The ability to work in accordance with BSI policies and standards.
