BSN Tutor

This position is responsible for providing individualized and small-group academic tutoring support for Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students. The nursing tutor, an experienced registered nurse, will reinforce course content, support NCLEX preparation, and promote student success in specialized nursing coursework. The tutor will collaborate with nursing faculty to identify student needs and deliver targeted, evidence-based support consistent with the Christian mission and Lutheran identity of Concordia University Chicago.

Specific Duties will include:

1. Conduct one-on-one and/or small-group tutoring sessions covering core BSN coursework.
2. Provide NCLEX preparation and support student success by reinforcing clinical reasoning, dosage calculation, care planning, and high yield concepts in core BSN coursework.
3. Provide writing and APA support
4. Adapt tutoring approaches to support diverse learning styles and preparation levels.
5. Maintain records of tutoring sessions, attendance, student progress, etc.
6. Report these records regularly to the Director and Associate Director of Nursing or their designee.

Qualifications:

• A bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing.
• Active, unencumbered State of Illinois registered nurse (RN) license is required.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, with higher-education experience preferred.
• Tutoring or teaching experience with NCLEX prep resources preferred.
• Valid Illinois Driver's License.

Required Skills:

• Ability to explain dense physiological concepts simply.
• Tailoring explanations to visual, auditory, or hands-on learners
• Supporting stressed or probationary nursing students with empathy and patience

Demonstrate technical literacy with comfort in learning management systems and tracking spreadsheets
