The YMCA of Greater Waukesha County is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Instructor Trainer to lead the development and delivery of high-quality training experiences for current group exercise instructors. Under the direction of the Fitness Director, the Instructor Trainer plays a critical role in upholding YMCA standards by ensuring instructors are prepared, certified, and confident in leading safe, engaging, and effective classes in designated formats.
This is a part-time position, with flexibility to include some nights and weekends based on training needs and class schedules.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Train and mentor current instructors in approved YMCA formats and/or nationally recognized programs.
Collaborate with Fitness Director and/or Group Exercise Coordinator to evaluate instructor performance and provide constructive feedback.
Serve as a subject matter expert in assigned class formats (e.g. cycling, HIIT, yoga, strength, aqua fitness).
Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and continuing education opportunities related to group fitness.
Foster a positive, professional learning environment that reflects YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
Promote instructor engagement and growth through encouragement, accountability, and ongoing support.
Qualifications: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent required, associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
Must demonstrate a strong class following and a proven track record of high-quality performance and member engagement.
Prior experience leading instructor training, workshops, or mentoring is strongly preferred.
Passion for building a strong team culture and delivering high-impact wellness experiences.
