Job Description
The Herbarium Assistant helps run Grinnell’s collection of ~25,000 pressed, dried identified plant specimens; records of evolutionary and ecological diversity.
The student assists a faculty or staff member in descriptive, exploratory or experimental research; publications; performance activities; project creation; data collection, management and/ or data analysis.
Qualifications
Knowledge of administrative and/or clerical procedures, specialized software systems, managing files and records, designing forms and/or other required procedures. Requires strong time management, oral and written communication skills and ability to problem solve.
**Attention to detail is a MUST.
Job includes: mounting, imaging, and recording data on specimens; maintaining the electronic database; preparing data and images for web-publishing; and dealing with specimen loans and other requests from researchers.
