Job Description

The Human Resources Assistant serves as the primary point of contact for employees regarding HR-related inquiries and issues in both English and Spanish. This role involves translating HR documents, communications, and policies as needed, assisting with recruitment efforts, and supporting new hire onboarding. The position supports HR programs and initiatives, including employee engagement, benefits enrollment, and training, while maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.

Responsibilities

• Serve as point of contact for employees regarding HR-related inquiries and issues in English and Spanish.
• Translate HR documents, communications, and policies as needed.
• Assist with recruitment efforts and new hire onboarding.
• Support HR programs and initiatives such as employee engagement, benefits enrollment, and training.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
• Assist in preparing HR reports and maintaining HRIS data integrity.
• Provide administrative support for payroll processing, including timecard audits and attendance tracking.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere through effective communication with customers, co-workers, clients, and supervisors.
• Perform other job duties as assigned by the supervisor.
• Ensure regular and reliable attendance.

Essential Skills

• Fluency in English and Spanish.
• 1-2 years experience in Human Resources, including New Hire Onboarding, Recruiting, Performance Management, Training, Timekeeping, and Payroll Support.
• Experience with HR policies and procedures.
• Proficient computer skills in MS Office – Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Ability to focus, with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy of information.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or related field preferred.
• Familiarity with HR software, such as ADP Workforce Now, is a plus.
• Bilingual in Spanish.
• Experience in full-cycle recruiting (up to 20-30 requisitions per year, mainly in manufacturing).
• Typing speed of 40 WPM.
• SHRM, PHR, or HRCI certification is advantageous.
• Flexibility to pivot as needed to support production/manufacturing.
• Industry experience in manufacturing.

Work Environment

This position is 100% onsite at the manufacturing plant, with a typical schedule from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, occasionally requiring overtime for events or meetings with the second shift. The facility employs approximately 170-180 people and includes an HR team composed of a coordinator and a manager. The work environment is a general office setting, with occasional exposure to production areas that may contain airborne particles, loud noises, and extreme temperatures, requiring personal protective equipment. Physical demands include frequent communication and movement, occasional lifting of objects up to 20 pounds, and prolonged periods of sitting or standing while using a computer.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Point Of Rocks, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.04 - $28.85/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
