Schedule: Monday–Thursday | 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (30-minute unpaid break daily)

As a Bilingual Spanish Elementary Math & ELA Teacher’s Assistant at P.S. 14 Fairview, you’ll play a vital role in supporting students as they strengthen the foundational literacy and math skills they need for continued academic success across Grades 3–5.

This role combines push-in classroom support during the school day with afterschool academic support. From 9:00 AM–2:30 PM, you’ll work alongside classroom teachers during Math and ELA instruction, providing additional support to students as they work through grade-level concepts and assignments. From 2:30 PM–4:00 PM, you’ll transition into afterschool homework help, reinforcing what students are learning and helping them work through challenging material.

Because this position serves a school community where bilingual support is needed, fluency in both English and Spanish is required. You should be comfortable communicating with students in both languages and using Spanish when needed to help students understand academic concepts, instructions, and assignments.

What You’ll Do

As a Simply Ed Bilingual Spanish Elementary Math & ELA Teacher’s Assistant, you will:

• Provide push-in classroom support from 9:00 AM–2:30 PM during Math and ELA instruction across Grades 3–5.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to provide targeted academic support that aligns with daily instruction.
• Offer one-on-one and small-group support to students who need additional help understanding or applying grade-level concepts.
• Reinforce foundational ELA skills, including reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking.
• Reinforce foundational Math skills, including number sense, operations, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving strategies.
• Use both English and Spanish to support student understanding and help clarify academic concepts, instructions, and assignments when needed.
• Help students work through challenging assignments and concepts while encouraging greater independence and confidence.
• Provide afterschool homework support from 2:30 PM–4:00 PM, helping students complete assignments and reinforce skills from the school day.
• Help maintain a focused, supportive learning environment during both classroom and afterschool programming.
• Monitor student progress and share observations with teachers and staff.
• Assist with organizing materials and preparing instructional resources.
• Attend required training sessions and staff meetings.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking individuals who are:

• Fluent in both English and Spanish and comfortable using both languages to provide academic support to students.
• Passionate about supporting elementary school students' academic growth in Math and ELA.
• Comfortable supporting grade-level Math and ELA instruction across Grades 3–5.
• Able to explain academic concepts clearly in both English and Spanish and adjust their approach based on individual student needs.
• Comfortable providing support in both push-in classroom and afterschool settings.
• Reliable, professional, and committed to showing up every day.
• Strong communicators and collaborative team players.
• Experienced working with children (formally or informally) — school experience preferred, but training is provided.
• Currently pursuing or holding a bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, English, or a related field.
• Patient, adaptable, and responsive to different learning styles and student needs.
• Cleared (or eligible for clearance) through NYC DOE PETS background check and fingerprinting.
