Position Overview

Ad Astra Behavior Analytic Services is looking for dependable, compassionate individuals to join our team as Behavior Technicians. This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are interested in entering the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or gaining hands-on experience while pursuing a career in behavioral services.

Behavior Technicians work directly with children and families to support individualized treatment goals developed by the clinical team. Through structured ABA interventions, technicians help clients build communication, social, adaptive, and daily living skills while working to decrease behaviors that may interfere with learning, safety, or independence.

Services are primarily provided in client homes and community-based environments based on individual treatment needs.

Most sessions are scheduled Monday through Friday between 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM, with scheduling flexibility based on client needs and employee availability.

Pay Range: $20–$27 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. Additional compensation may be available for bilingual Spanish-speaking applicants.

What You Will Do

Behavior Technicians are an important part of the client's care team. In this role, you will:

• Provide individualized one-on-one support to children receiving ABA services.

• Follow treatment programs and behavior intervention strategies developed by the supervising clinical team.

• Teach communication, social, self-help, and daily living skills.

• Use evidence-based ABA techniques to encourage skill development and independence.

• Assist with reducing behaviors that may interfere with learning, safety, or daily functioning.

• Collect accurate information and data during client sessions.

• Communicate effectively with supervising BCBAs and other members of the treatment team.

• Maintain a positive, professional, and supportive relationship with clients and their families.

• Follow all clinical, ethical, safety, and confidentiality standards.

• Remain flexible and responsive to the individual needs of each client.

Candidates with education or experience in psychology, education, human services, child development, social services, or related fields are encouraged to apply.

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Valid driver's license

• Reliable transportation

• Active automobile insurance with the applicant listed as a covered driver

• Current negative TB test

This position may require employees to lift or move materials weighing up to 50 pounds and actively participate in client activities throughout sessions.

Physical and Cognitive Requirements

The essential functions of this position may require employees to:

• Frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and move between floor-level and standing positions.

• Participate in developmentally appropriate activities, including floor-based play, movement activities, transitions, and safety-related activities.

• Work safely in a variety of environments, including client homes, clinics, schools, community locations, and remote/telehealth settings when applicable.

• Occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move therapy materials and equipment, generally up to 50 pounds.

• Remain seated for extended periods when completing computer-based work or providing telehealth services.

• Operate computers, keyboards, mobile devices, and other equipment requiring fine motor coordination.

• Maintain visual and auditory awareness to observe client behavior, monitor safety, and communicate effectively.

• Read, understand, retain, and follow written and verbal instructions.

• Maintain attention, concentration, situational awareness, and sound judgment in dynamic environments.

• Accurately collect, document, and submit client and session information.

• Protect confidential client and company information.

• Demonstrate professionalism and emotional resilience when responding to sensitive situations, complaints, or workplace concerns.

Incentive Pay Structure

Behavior Technicians have the opportunity to increase their hourly compensation through continued availability and professional development:

• $1/hour increase after maintaining consistent availability for 90 consecutive days.

• Additional $1/hour increase upon successfully obtaining RBT certification.

Client Cancellation Policy

We recognize the importance of maintaining reliable hours and protecting our technicians' time. When a client cancels 30 minutes or less before the scheduled session start time, and/or the technician has already departed for the session, the technician may receive up to 2 hours of paid cancellation time.

Ad Astra also monitors recurring or excessive client cancellations and takes steps to address scheduling concerns in an effort to maintain more stable and consistent technician hours.
