Before and After School Care Assistant Instructor Part Time - West Suburban

Job Details: Job Location: West Suburban YMCA - Wauwatosa, WI, Position Type: Part Time, Salary Range: $16.00Hourly, GENERAL FUNCTIONS:
*Starting Wage of $15/per hour and opportunities for pay advancement once reaching 18 years of age
Under the direction of the Before and After School Care Site Supervisor and in accordance with Association policies, the Before and After School Care Assistant Instructor is responsible for coordinating daily activities. The Assistant Instructor provides a safe and nurturing environment for school-aged children to learn and play.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Follow and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and actively participate in daily activities for youth before and after school to engage students and monitor safety during all times of the day.
Serve as a role model to staff and Before and After School Care participants.
Develop positive relationships will the staff, families, and children while providing motivational support and guidance, by providing caring interactions and prompt service and maintaining appropriate communication.
Maintain participant records and other documentation in accordance with department requirements.
Ensure safety and cleanliness of learning spaces and classrooms.
Follow the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County’s emergency procedures to ensure the safety of all children, including but not limited to, communicating with supervisor regarding any emergency concerns or situations.
Uphold the core values of the YMCA when working with people within the YMCA facilities and community.
Follow all relevant regulations from the Department of Children and Families, or other regulatory agencies.
Attend all staff meetings and trainings as required.
Other duties as necessary and as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Must be at least 16 years of age.
Must complete a DCF-approved, non-credit course (online) within the first week of employment.
Must meet all school age licensing requirements.
Must be able and willing to obtain CPR, First Aid, AED, Abusive Head Trauma, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (if applicable), Mandated Reporter, Wisconsin Child Care Registry certification, and additional non-credit coursework (as needed).
Prior experience in a licensed early learning program is preferred.
Must have a sincere interest and ability to comprehend needs and develop positive outcomes in children from diverse populations.
Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others.
Ability to relate effectively with diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
Exhibit the core values of caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs. and work indoors and outdoors; must be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children; see and hear well enough to keep children safe; and engage in physical activity with children.
