Job Title: Barista

Position Overview. As a Barista, you are at the heart of the Black Rock Coffee Bar experience, creating meaningful connections with Guests and Team Members while delivering exceptional service and consistently crafted beverages. You will bring energy, care, and attention to every interaction while maintaining a welcoming, clean, and efficient store environment. Success in this role requires a genuine passion for people, a commitment to quality, and the ability to thrive as part of a fast-paced, collaborative team.
 
Services and Duties. To succeed in this role, you must bring a people-first mindset, strong customer service skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced store environment:

• Immediately and warmly welcomes customers and team members, ensuring a positive, welcoming, and engaging environment.
• Abides by service speed requirements without compromising beverage quality or customer service, including third-party orders.
• Prepares and serves coffee and coffee-less beverages and food items using retail equipment, such as espresso machines and convection ovens.
• Maintains clean and organized work and customer areas, following health and safety guidelines.
• Promotes new coffee offerings and seasonal specials to enhance brand awareness and sales.
• Handles accurate cash and credit transactions, including daily cash deposits when required.
• Supports training initiatives and mentors new team members during their onboarding process.
• Manages daily, weekly, and monthly tasks assigned by the leadership team.
• Handles customer complaints and resolve issues professionally and promptly.
• Assists in inventory management and restocks supplies as needed, including product displays.
• Conducts line busting during peak periods to expedite customer orders, which may require exposure to various elements.
• Proficient at working independently during shifts with self-directed initiative and minimal supervision.
• Always follows Black Rock Coffee Bar's policies and procedures diligently.

• Contributes positively to store culture through teamwork, communication, and a willingness to learn and grow.

Work Environment. This position operates in a fast-paced retail coffee shop environment with frequent interaction with Guests and Team Members. The role requires continuous movement throughout the store, frequent use of beverage and food preparation equipment, and the ability to work safely around hot surfaces, liquids, cleaning products, and other typical food service conditions. Line busting and other assigned duties may also require working outdoors in varying weather condition:

• Constant standing and walking for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and repetitive hand and wrist movements associated with beverage and food preparation.
• Occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching to complete cleaning, stocking, and operational tasks.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  Occasional use of ladders or step stools to access elevated storage areas.
• Manual dexterity to safely operate espresso machines, blenders, ovens, POS systems, and other store equipment.
• Visual and auditory ability to accurately read orders, prepare products, communicate with Guests and Team Members, and safely perform job duties.
• Ability to perform basic calculations necessary for recipes, transactions, and cash handling.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors as assigned, including exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions.
