Barista

Job Purpose:

McLean Bible Church (MBC) is seeking a Barista to join our Café team. The position is responsible for preparing high-quality beverages. ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and efficient work environment. The ideal candidate must have a passion for coffee, experimenting with flavors, developing new drinks, and showing creativity through presentation. The individual must also be able to thrive in a fast-paced setting.

Work Schedule:  Sundays only: 7:30 am to 2:00 pm

Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

• Prepare and serve coffee, coffee-based drinks, tea, and other beverages following Café recipes and guidelines
• Take customer orders and provide friendly, efficient service
• Operate espresso machines, grinders, blenders, and other equipment
• Ensure proper handling and storage of ingredients and supplies
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including cleaning equipment and utensils
• Promote new products, specials, or seasonal offerings to customers
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace to ensure smooth operations and safe food handling
• When necessary, assist with processing payments (via cash, credit/debit cards) and do so accurately
• Assist in restocking inventory as needed
• Support team members and help with other tasks when necessary.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a Barista preferred
• Previous experience in food service or customer service will also be considered 
• Passion for coffee and customer service
• Basic math skills to handle monetary transactions, as necessary
• Familiarity with food safety standards and proper hygiene in a food-related environment is a plus
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail, particularly in taking orders and handling payments
• Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate clearly with others

  Working conditions/ Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting up to 30 lbs (e.g. coffee bags, supplies)
• Must be able to handle hot beverages and equipment with care
• Ability to work in a busy environment and move quickly while providing excellent customer service
• Manual dexterity to operate machinery (e.g. espresso machine, grinders).
