We’re looking for a talented Bartender to join the crew at Mortar & Pestle, our craft cocktail bar inside Curry Up Now San Mateo. If you’ve got the speed, the style, and the spirit to deliver top-tier drinks with serious hospitality—we want to meet you.
You’ll crush this role if you:
- Know your way around a jigger, shaker, and muddler
- Can batch with precision and pour with flair
- Are fluent in classic cocktails and curious about modern mixology
- Can deliver warm, confident hospitality in a high-energy environment
- Can work Sundays (non-negotiable—we need weekend warriors)
What you’ll be doing:
- Mixing cocktails with consistency and creativity
- Providing stellar guest service at the bar and restaurant tables
- Supporting food and bar operations (including cleaning and restocking)
- Using the POS system efficiently
- Representing Mortar & Pestle with personality, knowledge, and pride
What we’re looking for:
- 1+ year of bartending experience (restaurant or cocktail bar preferred)
- RBS certification required
- Food Handler’s certification required
- Strong communication skills (English required)
- Available to work Sundays, plus holidays and evenings

Requirements
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 1 year Bartending experience in a restaurant or bar
- Demonstrated success in service excellence, customer service, beverage/food service hospitality
- Knowledge of OSHA and EEOC regulations, restaurant/food safety procedures
- Point of Sale (POS) knowledge/skills preferred
- Ability to successfully perform all job duties of the Bartender role
- Food Safety/Food Handler certification required
- Strong organizational skills with excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with guests, staff, and management.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in the English language
- Possesses basic math skill (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
- Places a value on diversity, community, and shows respect for others
- Proven ability to problem solve and handle high stress situations
- Must be prepared to multitask in accordance with the demands of the business
- Ability to identify and anticipate opportunities and implement corrective action steps
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings
- Must have RBS
