Banquets Cook

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for food preparation in the banquet facilities of the Shooting Star Casino, Hotel & Event Center. In all interactions, the position is responsible for providing STAR Experience to guests and fellow team members a first priority.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Shooting Star Casino team members will always deliver excellent guest service to our guests and fellow co-workers.

Prepares a variety of foods according to banquet event orders for the banquet department, to ensure

guest satisfaction.

• Labels and dates prepared foods and followed policies on proper rotation in accordance to established procedures.
• Organizes and stocks food items in prep coolers and freezers.
• Promptly stocks all food and supply orders when received.
• Ensures safe and sanitary food preparations including disposing of waste and spoiled items; utilize waste sheets.

Cleans floors, counters and workstations as needed following approved procedures to maintain the high sanitation standards established for the banquet kitchen.

• Practices rules and regulations provided by ServSafe.

Listens and responds to guest concerns to maintain a high level of guest satisfaction.

• Provides prompt and courteous customer service by listening to and answering a variety of customer questions and complaints and routing to the appropriate personnel.
• Ensure the strictest of confidentiality is maintained at all times.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and minimum of two months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses & Designations

Must meet the requirements as prescribed by the Tribal-State compact for Gaming.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Ability to read and comprehend instructions and details regarding food on banquet event orders.
• Ability to add and subtract two- and three-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.
• Ability to perform operations using units of weight and measurement; applied to measuring cups and dividing portions of recipes.
• Ability to complete forms and documentation as necessary.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
• Ability to problem-solve and communicate concerns and questions to supervisor.
• Ability to frequently stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to frequently twist, stoop or bend.
• Ability to frequently lift or carry 25-50 pounds.
• Ability to frequently reach above or below shoulder height.
• Ability to frequently reach shoulder height.
