About the Role

We are hiring an Azure Solutions Architect to lead the technical side of our Microsoft practice in the United States. It is a client-facing job. You will be in front of prospects and customers most weeks.

About half your time goes on pre-sales: shaping solutions in live pursuits, writing and owning the technical content of proposals, sizing the work, and being the technical voice in the pitch. The other half is delivery leadership. You set the architecture and the quality bar on global accounts, and you make sure what we sell is what we deliver.

Microsoft alliance work runs through both halves. Relationships with the Microsoft field turn into pipeline; delivered work becomes the references that keep those relationships warm. We have not given it its own slice of your week, because in practice it does not have one.

You will work closely with our Microsoft Practice Leader and speak with the same technical authority with clients, with Microsoft, and in our own solution reviews.

Azure is the priority, and it is not optional. Our Microsoft go-to-market rests on three pillars, and we are hiring for the first of them. Azure, Fabric, and the AI and data layer around them is where we most need senior capability, and it is the pillar this role answers for. We value strength in the other two and have described both below, but Azure depth is a requirement.

Your pay is tied to how much you grow the practice. It suits someone who wants credit for the work they win as well as the work they deliver.

Focus Areas

1. Azure, Fabric, and the AI and data layer. The priority and a requirement for this role

Depth in Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric: OneLake, Fabric capacities and the commercial model, Data Factory, Data Engineering, Data Warehouse, Real-Time Intelligence and Power BI.

Then Microsoft Foundry (formerly Azure AI Foundry), including Foundry Models such as Azure OpenAI, and Foundry Agent Service, plus the data layer around it: Azure AI Search, Azure Document Intelligence, Azure Content Understanding, Azure SQL, and Cosmos DB.

You should be able to size a Fabric capacity and say what it costs, and tell a client where Copilot Studio stops and Foundry starts. You will lead the pursuits that build this pillar out.

2. Power Platform

Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, and Power Apps code apps. This is our busiest area today, mostly citizen development and enablement work.

You will design Power Platform estates that survive their second and third project, and coach client teams to run them without losing control of them.

3. Copilot and Copilot Studio

Building agents in Microsoft Copilot Studio: agent flows, workflows, and the Copilot Credits consumption model. Microsoft 365 Copilot enablement sits here too.

You will help clients pick a first agent use case worth doing, get it into production safely, and show a result. Many have already had the pilot that went nowhere.

Key responsibilities

Pre-sales, about half your time

• Lead the solution design on live pursuits, and turn what the client wants into a Microsoft architecture you can defend.

• Write and own the technical content of proposals, statements of work, and RFP responses.

• Estimate scope, effort, delivery shape, and commercial risk, then defend those estimates internally and with the client.

• Be the senior technical voice in pitches, executive briefings, and competitive bake-offs.

• Run discovery workshops, assessments, and architecture reviews that convert into paid engagements.

• Design and productise our solution offerings. Take a pattern that worked on one engagement and turn it into something we can sell again: a defined scope, a price, a reference architecture, a demo, and an estimating model. That is what turns a skill set into a proposition we can take to the next client.

• Build the assets those offerings rest on, and keep them current.

Delivery leadership

• Own the architecture for US-based Microsoft engagements, from design authority through to production.

• Set the technical quality standard, review delivery team output, and hold the line on governance and security.

• Resolve technical escalations on live accounts and protect the client relationship when a delivery gets difficult.

• Turn delivered work into references and case studies, with client consent.

• Mentor consultants and developers, and support the practice skilling plan.

Microsoft alliance, which runs through both of the above

• Build working relationships with Microsoft field across your territory: Partner Development Manager, account executive, cloud solution architect, and technology specialists.

• Support co-sell motions, joint account planning, and Microsoft-sourced pipeline.

• Turn Microsoft investments into Azure pipeline. Lead funded pre-sales engagements on Azure: assessments, proofs of value, and migration and modernisation plans. You produce the workload assessment, the target architecture, and the Azure consumption estimate the funding case rests on, with the customer’s Microsoft account team in the room. Our alliance function handles the Partner Center submission, and you own the technical substance.

• Represent TQA in Microsoft field briefings, partner events, and joint customer workshops.

How we will measure success (in the first 12 months)

• You are the named architect on the majority of US Microsoft pursuits, and both proposal quality and win rate improve measurably.

• Estimates you own land within an agreed tolerance of actual delivered effort.

• Azure and Fabric pursuits are a real share of the US pipeline, and growing.

• Microsoft-influenced opportunities progress to closed-won in the three pillars.

• Two or more referenceable US engagements are delivered, with client consent to be named.

• Microsoft field teams in at least two territories name you as a trusted technical contact for TQA.

Required skills and experience

• Experience. 10+ years in Microsoft-stack consulting or solution architecture, of which 3+ years shaping solutions in live pursuits (pre-sales, bid or solutioning work), at a Microsoft partner, systems integrator or consultancy.

• Azure depth, built and shipped. Real depth designing and delivering on Microsoft Azure at enterprise scale: landing zones and subscription design, identity, networking, security, cost management, and the judgement to pick the right service for the problem. This is the pillar the role exists for, and adjacent Microsoft experience will not stand in for it.

• Fabric and the data layer. Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric or a comparable enterprise data platform, including the capacity and licensing model, plus enough command of the surrounding Azure data services to design a solution that will run in production.

• Azure AI. Experience designing AI solutions on Microsoft Foundry or Azure OpenAI: retrieval strategy, service selection, quota and cost management, evaluation, and responsible AI. You know the difference between a production AI architecture and a demo, and you will say which one a client is asking for.

• The Copilot Studio and Foundry boundary. You can tell a client when an agent belongs in Copilot Studio and when it belongs on Foundry, and what that choice costs them in licensing, governance, and flexibility.

• Commercial track record. Proposals you wrote, deals you helped close, and pitches you led. We will ask for specifics.

• Estimating. You can size and price work, and you are comfortable being accountable for the estimate you gave.

• Experience working with the Microsoft field. You have worked alongside a Microsoft account team (Partner Development Manager, account executive, cloud solution architect, technology specialists) and you know how partner investment funding and co-sell referrals actually get approved.

• Range. Credible with a chief information officer in the morning and a developer in the afternoon. You explain architecture in business terms without losing the detail.

• Governance at scale. Experience taking a cloud, data, or agent estate from pilot to governed scale, including the enablement side of it.

• Certification. Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or its current successor. Active, or lapsed and renewed in your first 90 days. This is the only certification we require; see Nice to Have for how we treat the rest.

• Currency. The ability to tell a generally available capability from a preview one, to say plainly when you are not sure, and to keep pace with a platform that changes every release wave. We would rather hear “that was preview last I checked, let me verify” than a confident wrong answer in front of a client.

• Communication. Excellent written and verbal communication in English, and the ability to hold the same conversation with a platform engineer and a finance stakeholder and be understood by both.

• Right to work in the United States, held at the point of application. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

None of the following is required. Several are areas we will develop in role.

• Depth in a second pillar. Power Platform or Copilot Studio depth on top of your Azure background. Not required, but it counts for a lot, because most of our current engagements start there.

• Certifications beyond the one we require. We treat these as supporting evidence, not as a gate. Senior pre-sales architects often hold fewer certifications than delivery specialists, because their time goes into winning large deals instead, and we have written this advert accordingly. Where you do hold them, we are most interested in a current, unexpired credential, and in roughly this order:

  • Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Apps and Agents Developer Associate

  • Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate, or Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, where the data layer is your strength

  • Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Developer Associate, where Power Platform is your second pillar

Or the current successor to any of the above. Microsoft’s certification portfolio is mid-transition, and a number of long-standing credentials retired during 2026, so a lapsed or retired certification will not count against you, and its absence will not either. We fund certification, and we run an incentive programme for it.

• Integration across legacy and cloud estates, including Dynamics 365.

• Fabric adjacency. Fabric and Azure Databricks coexistence, Microsoft Purview governance over Fabric, or Synapse-to-Fabric and Azure Data Factory-to-Fabric migration experience.

• Agent engineering on the Azure side. Microsoft Agent Framework, Model Context Protocol tool integration, or agent evaluation and observability.

• Industry Experience. Exposure or experience working and delivering for the Healthcare or Financial Services industries.

• Exposure to UiPath or ServiceNow, and an interest in agentic development on Anthropic Claude and other model providers.

• Practice building. Experience standing up a practice or an offering from an early stage.

Compensation

This role carries a base salary plus a performance-linked variable component. The variable element is measured on the growth of the TQA Microsoft practice, specifically on bookings you influence and help close, not on delivery utilization.

That is on purpose. We are asking you to be a market-facing leader for the practice, so we pay for work won as well as work delivered. The base range and on-target earnings are published above. We will cover the benefits package at the first interview.
