Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position):
The Astronomy Telescope Leader is responsible for facilitating a few evening observing sessions and supporting students in their hands-on learning of astronomy concepts. This role helps ensure a safe, organized, and educational experience for students using telescopes and engaging with the night sky.

Duties and Responsibilities

Set up and take down telescopes and related equipment at the observing site

Lead and supervise weekly evening observing sessions

Guide students in proper use of telescopes and observing techniques

Maintain accurate attendance records for observing sessions

Ensure safe handling and care of telescopes and equipment

Assist with basic troubleshooting of equipment as needed
Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills)

Completion of introductory physics or astronomy coursework

Familiarity with the proper use and care of telescopes and related equipment

Basic knowledge of constellations, planets, and the night sky

Strong communication skills and ability to work with peers

Dependable, punctual, and comfortable working evening hours outdoors
