Summary
The lifeguard is responsible for supervising the pool area to ensure bather safety and enforcing all pool regulations. They must be prepared to execute rescue operations and follow Emergency Action Plan protocols during medical or aquatic emergencies.
Job Description
Responsibilities
Provide supervision for the safety of bathers by constant scanning of entire pool and pool area until properly relieved by another lifeguard. One guard will be scheduled per pool that is open. One additional guard may be scheduled if Troy or Andrew are not present.
Enforce all listed pool safety rules and regulations, in order to prevent accidents.
Be prepared to respond and completely carry out all drill and real life rescues in and around the aquatic facility.
Follow the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) protocols..
Provide first aid for both minor and major injuries, provide basic life support for all emergencies and be versed in the process for contacting Public Safety (and/or 911) in the event of an emergency.
Qualifications
All staff must maintain current American Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid, AED, & CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification, or equivalent.
