What You Can Expect
Independently supports the evaluation and execution of mergers & acquisitions, investments, and strategic partnership opportunities in support of Zimmer Biomet’s inorganic growth strategy. Serve as a key transaction leader across the deal lifecycle, including opportunity assessment, valuation and business case development, diligence coordination, transaction execution, and post-transaction planning. Partner closely with Corporate Development leadership, business unit leaders, Corporate Strategy, and cross-functional stakeholders to advance high-quality deal flow and support informed strategic decision-making. Build and maintain productive relationships with external advisors, bankers, and other intermediaries to support opportunity development and efficient execution.
How You'll Create Impact
- Lead financial modeling, valuation, and business case development for assigned M&A, investment, and strategic partnership opportunities.
- Independently lead defined transaction workstreams and support end-to-end evaluation and execution of smaller or less complex opportunities under the direction of Corporate Development leadership.
- Evaluate strategic fit, market dynamics, competitive positioning, transaction economics, and key risks; synthesize findings into clear recommendations.
- Partner with business units and Corporate Strategy to identify, prioritize, and evaluate opportunities aligned with Zimmer Biomet’s growth objectives and portfolio strategy.
- Coordinate and drive cross-functional diligence workstreams across finance, legal, tax, strategy, regulatory, and business unit teams; maintain workplans, timelines, issue logs, and decision trackers.
- Prepare executive-ready transaction summaries, investment memoranda, presentations, and decision materials for senior leadership review.
- Support transaction execution, including process management, advisor coordination, document review, data room management, issue resolution, and timeline tracking.
- Contribute to deal structuring discussions and negotiation preparation by assessing strategic, financial, and operational tradeoffs.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with investment bankers, external advisors, and other intermediaries to support opportunity development and efficient execution.
- Support post-transaction planning, including integration readiness, milestone tracking, and performance follow-up as assigned.
- Drive continuous improvement of Corporate Development processes, templates, tools, and analytical frameworks to enhance consistency and efficiency.
- Provide coaching and day-to-day guidance to Analysts and Senior Analysts on modeling, research, diligence coordination, and transaction processes.
What Makes You Stand Out
- Strong experience in M&A, investments, strategic partnerships, and/or corporate development, ideally within MedTech, medical devices, healthcare, or life sciences.
- Strong understanding of valuation, transaction economics, business case development, and due diligence workflows.
- Ability to independently lead complex analyses and assigned transaction workstreams while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong strategic thinking, with the ability to connect market trends, competitive dynamics, and portfolio priorities to opportunity assessment.
- Effective cross-functional leadership and influence skills in a matrixed environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to distill complex issues into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive, confidential information with discretion.
- Strong relationship-building skills with internal stakeholders, bankers, advisors, and external counterparties.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and develop less experienced team members.
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, dynamic deal environment with shifting priorities and tight timelines.
Your Background
- Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience, or Associate's Degree and 6 years of relevant experience, or High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 years of relevant experience required
- Preferred Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Marketing, Strategy, Economics, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or other advanced degree a plus.
- Preferred Qualification: 7+ years of experience in investment banking, corporate development, business development, strategic finance, or strategy.
- Preferred Qualification: Direct experience leading core components of M&A, investment, or strategic partnership transaction processes, including financial analysis, due diligence, and execution support.
- Preferred Qualification: Strong financial modeling, valuation, and business case development experience supporting investment, acquisition, or partnership decisions.
- Preferred Qualification: Prior experience in the MedTech, medical device, or broader life sciences industry preferred, with familiarity in orthopedic or surgical markets a plus.
