This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Associate Communications Specialist based in the United States.
This role supports external communications and marketing initiatives across a diverse federal solutions portfolio, with a focus on defense and intelligence markets.
You will help turn complex technologies, products, and mission-driven solutions into clear, engaging stories for external audiences.
The position offers broad exposure to media relations, product communications, thought leadership, social media, and integrated marketing.
You will collaborate with subject matter experts, business leaders, and communications colleagues across multiple functions.
The role combines hands-on content creation with opportunities to contribute to campaigns, industry events, and strategic communications projects.

Accountabilities

Support external communications and marketing initiatives aligned with federal business priorities and strategic objectives.

Develop messaging and content promoting products, technologies, capabilities, customer successes, contract wins, launches, commercialization initiatives, and industry engagements.

Draft and edit press releases, media pitches, executive talking points, fact sheets, articles, social media posts, marketing collateral, and other communications materials.

Partner with subject matter experts and business leaders to transform technical and operational information into clear, compelling stories.

Assist with media relations, including monitoring coverage, tracking relevant news, and identifying opportunities for reporter engagement.

Support thought leadership initiatives such as bylined articles, executive communications, speaking materials, and industry-focused content.

Help plan and execute trade shows, conferences, customer engagements, and other external communications activities.

Track communications and marketing metrics and contribute to performance reporting.

Monitor industry developments, customer activity, and media coverage to identify timely storytelling and content opportunities.

Contribute to special projects and other communications, marketing, and corporate affairs initiatives as needed.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, English, or a related discipline.

At least 3 years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, product marketing, or a related field.

Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling capabilities with strong attention to clarity, accuracy, and audience.

Ability to translate complex technical, business, or operational concepts into accessible and engaging communications.

Experience supporting communications campaigns, media relations, content development, product marketing, or broader marketing programs.

Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.

Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders across different functions and organizational levels.

Experience in the federal government, defense, national security, or technology sectors is desirable.

Familiarity with AP Style is a plus.

Experience supporting product launches, commercialization programs, customer engagement campaigns, social media, digital communications, or integrated marketing initiatives is beneficial.

Strong curiosity, initiative, adaptability, and willingness to develop professionally in a fast-paced communications environment.
