Job Description

The candidate is expected for the full school‑year commitment, beginning September 1, 2026, and continuing through May 31, 2027.

Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota (LSS) is hiring Assistant Teachers (age 18+) for our after-school programs serving K–5 students in Sioux Falls! Great opportunity for college students who want a future working with children!

- Flexible schedule: Work 2–5 days per week between 2pm–6pm, Monday–Friday.

What You’ll Do
- Lead fun, pre-planned activities for K–5 students
- Build positive relationships with children and parents
- Ensure a safe, caring environment
- Assist with light cleaning and daily routines
- Collaborate with co-workers and follow program guidelines
Where You’ll Work
We are hiring at any of our three locations in Sioux Falls:
- Southern Hills – 3400 E 49th Street
- Hilltop – 1312 S Bahnson Ave
- Here4Youth – 300 E 6th Street (serves youth with special needs)
What You Need
- Must be 18 years or older
- Valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain one) and active auto insurance
- Must meet licensing requirements: no substantiated child abuse/neglect reports and no felony within the last 5 years
- Successful completion of all agency background checks
- A genuine desire to help kids learn and grow!
