The Assistant Manager supervises c-store staff and daily operations to ensure that safety, guest service, cleanliness and inventory control standards are maintained. This may include scheduling and supervising staff. The ASM will also be able to run the retail operation in the absence of the Store Manager. Exceptional customer service is a major component of this position.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs all tasks and responsibilities of a Senior GSR as outlined in the Senior GSR Job description.
2. As needed, supervises guest transactions and ensure that safety and operations standards are maintained.
3. Coordinates and supervises staff so that standards of cleanliness are maintained as outlined on the Clipper Activity Board.
4. Manages a staff of approximately 4 to 12. Assigns, oversees and evaluates work. Recommends promotion, transfer, or termination of employees.
5. Performs paperwork duties and assists with product orders and inventory as needed.
6. Assists with planning of special events and promotions.
7. Completes all training courses as directed.
Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience & Skills: Experience in restaurant or retail operations, preferably with supervisory experience. Requires excellent communication skills, ability to deal with all levels of employees. Computer knowledge is desirable.
Physical: Must be able to work any area of the c-store when needed and to operate a computerized Point of Sale system/cash register. Position requires bending, standing, and walking the entire workday. Must have the ability to lift 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Working Conditions: C-Store environment with some exposure to discomforting conditions, including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, and noise from cooling units. Physical demands are moderately heavy, limited to lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds and occasionally climbing of ladders. Will be on your feet throughout the entire shift.
