The Role

As our Assistant Manager, you will learn all aspects of managing a convenience store from inventory management to store level marketing.  Your role will include supporting your store manager with merchandising, ordering, housekeeping, loss prevention, employee training and coaching, and ensuring compliance with all company policies and store standards.

Key Responsibilities

Learn and understand all aspects of store operations including inventory management, store-level marketing, cash handling and store maintenance.
Assist in the management of staff; including training and coaching where needed.
Develop strong product knowledge to answer customer queries and make recommendations.
Assist in meeting and exceeding store sales goals.
Ensure the store is clean, safe and in order, in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Learn to analyze sales data and trends to make informed decisions.
Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors, customers, and staff.
Check in orders and verify accuracy upon delivery.
Handle invoicing and ensure proper documentation.
Address and resolve customer complaints in a professional and timely manner.
QualificationsWho are we looking for?

Working environment and physical demands

This active role operates in a retail environment with coolers, freezers, and merchandising displays with items available for purchase.  The position requires regular talking and hearing and physical activities such as standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing.  The successful candidate will lift and/or move items over 50 pounds and must have specific vision abilities.

Hours of work

As an Assistant Manager at express mart, you'll enjoy a consistent second-shift schedule (2 PM – 10 PM) with rotating weekends, ensuring stability while keeping your days free. You'll work opposite the Store Manager, providing leadership and support during key business hours. This structured schedule allows for work-life balance while playing a vital role in our team’s success!
