We are seeking a passionate and driven Assistant Manager to join our Japanese restaurant team. In this key leadership role, you will support daily operations, deliver exceptional guest experiences, and cultivate a positive and high-performing team environment.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in hospitality, thrives in a fast-paced setting, and demonstrates a deep appreciation for Japanese cuisine and service culture.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and support daily restaurant operations to ensure smooth and efficient service
Lead, train, and motivate team members to maintain high standards of food quality and customer service
Monitor inventory levels, place orders, and minimize waste through effective stock control
Ensure consistency and quality in food preparation in alignment with restaurant standards
Handle cash and POS transactions accurately (e.g., Toast, Aloha, Micros)
Maintain strict compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations
Assist in recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing staff development
Support scheduling, manage floor operations, and resolve guest concerns promptly
Monitor labor and operational costs to support budgeting goals
Foster a welcoming, team-oriented environment that enhances guest satisfaction
Qualifications
Minimum 1–2 years of experience as an Assistant Manager or Supervisor in the restaurant industry
Strong knowledge of food service operations, kitchen workflow, and Japanese cuisine preferred
Experience with POS systems (Toast) and cash handling
Proven leadership skills with the ability to train and manage a diverse team
Knowledge of inventory control, food safety standards, and compliance regulations
Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills
Ability to multitask and perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and organizational skills
Experience in casual dining required; fine dining or hotel background is a plus
