This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Assistant Facility Security Officer based in the United States.
This role supports the administration and coordination of industrial security programs and related federal security activities.
You will help manage personnel security clearances, security documentation, training requirements, and compliance processes across multiple organizations and locations.
The position works closely with Human Resources, Contracts, Proposal teams, company security officers, and federal agency representatives.
You will provide guidance to employees, support security onboarding and debriefings, and help investigate and report security incidents.
The role requires strong knowledge of DoD security requirements, NISPOM, personnel suitability processes, and applicable federal regulations.
You will operate independently in a remote environment while managing security activities for a large distributed workforce.
The position also offers an opportunity to grow into an FSO role supporting one or multiple organizations within the broader enterprise.

Accountabilities:
- Administer personnel security clearance processes, including initial submissions, periodic reinvestigations, security paperwork, electronic fingerprinting, and clearance status follow-up.
- Maintain accurate personnel security documentation, files, clearance records, suitability rosters, and related records in accordance with applicable DCSA requirements.
- Maintain Facility Clearance (FCL) documentation and support required submissions and updates.
- Provide personnel suitability processing and coordination support for federal agencies and components.
- Conduct and document new employee security briefings and exit debriefings.
- Coordinate contract-specific security onboarding requirements, including high-side nominations and special briefings.
- Monitor annual refresher training and required employee security documentation through the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Investigate and report security incidents and Insider Threat matters in accordance with applicable procedures.
- Provide security support to Human Resources, Contracts, Proposal teams, and other internal stakeholders.
- Advise personnel on personal, administrative, compliance, and incident-related security reporting obligations.
- Interpret applicable government security policies and support the development and implementation of security plans and procedures.
- Maintain effective working relationships with DCSA and other federal agency representatives to support information sharing, incident resolution, and Insider Threat response.
- Supervise daily security activities and help ensure compliance with government and internal security policies.
- Manage collateral access control activities, including badges, access cards, and visit requests when required.
- Support security programs across multiple sites throughout the United States.
- Provide security onboarding and ongoing support for a workforce of more than 300 employees and independent contractors across various locations.
- Perform additional security and administrative duties as assigned.
- Travel throughout the country as needed to support business and security requirements.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience working as an Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO).
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree; an Associate’s degree may be substituted with 10 years of professional experience.
- Completion of the Facility Security Officer (FSO) Certification, specifically STEPP’s “FSO Orientation for Non-Possessing Facilities”, or completion within one month of starting the role.
- Knowledge of government security and information assurance processes.
- Strong understanding of 32 CFR Part 117, NISPOM, and general security requirements applicable to the Department of Defense and other federal agencies.
- Demonstrated ability to guide employees through personnel security requirements consistent with the 13 adjudicative guidelines.
- Experience protecting and safeguarding Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
- Hands-on experience with security systems and platforms such as DISS, NISS, NBIS, eAPP, and ACCS.
- Ability to communicate effectively with corporate executives and provide clear security status updates, compliance guidance, and responses to security-related questions.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills, with the ability to manage multiple security processes and deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining a dedicated workspace and availability during standard business hours.
- Flexibility to occasionally support critical deadlines or business needs outside standard working hours, including early mornings or evenings.
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout the United States as required.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform routine workplace movements such as bending, reaching, and kneeling.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds when required to perform job duties.
