Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
Provide operational and customer service support during evening and weekend pool hours to ensure a safe, clean and positive experience for all patrons and staff.
This non-supervisory role requires strong initiative, effective communication skills and reliability.
ABOUT YOU
You're a dependable and organized team member who communicates clearly and remains calm under pressure. You'll provide support to aquatics staff during evening and weekend shifts, help enforce safety protocols, and serve as the primary point of contact on-site during nights and weekends. Your reliability helps ensure a smooth and safe environment for both members and staff.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Assist lifeguards and aquatic staff with evening operations.
- Support lifeguards and swim instructors during evening and weekend hours.
- Provide coverage for lifeguards and swim instructors as needed.
- Coordinate pool activities and logistics.
- Serve as a point of contact for lifeguards and aquatic staff during evening shifts.
- Monitor pool operations and ensure adherence to safety procedures and policies.
- Respond to emergencies and incidents, following established protocols.
- Support opening and closing duties for night shifts.
- Communicate with members, staff and management to maintain high service standards.
OUR REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 2 years of experience in aquatics or pool operations
- Current Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid certifications (or ability to obtain before start)
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Availability to work nights and weekends
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- Previous supervisory experience in an aquatics or recreation setting
- Familiarity with evening pool programming and facility operations
SALARY
Part-time
Salary Range: $22 - $25 per hour (based on experience)

New programs were developed to serve the needs of the community such as day camp (1932) to preschool (1960), from the Dorothy Delson Kuhn Music Institute to Kosher Meals for the Homebound Elderly to First Foot Forward, a preschool for children with special needs.
L’dor v’dor – from generation to generation – as the JCC, its lay leaders and staff continue providing for the varied needs of its members and other Staten Islanders.
