This position involves the review and evaluation of customer requirements in order to create technical sales proposals. Upon receipt of associated purchase orders, accurate scope and project requirements are conveyed to the Engineering Department to ensure the initiation of successful and profitable projects.

This position focuses on supporting various markets for one of the three main business units: Industrial, Process Technology, or Metallurgical. In addition, the position may require secondary responsibilities for one or more alternate business units and/or markets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (other duties may be assigned)

Proposal Life Cycle Responsibilities

 Perform calculations and select optimal technical solutions to meet customer requirements.
 Estimate costs for proposed solutions utilizing software tools, historical data and sound judgement.
 Develop technical sales proposals with consideration of cost, market conditions, commercial terms and Lechler standards and guidelines.
 Promptly and accurately respond to technical questions from internal and external customers.
 Review of purchase order contracts to assure accuracy with respect to proposals.
 Clearly convey scope and project requirements to the Engineering Department upon receipt of purchase orders.    

General Support and Business Development Responsibilities

Evaluate, propose and make efforts to improve Lechler tools, processes and documentation.
Assist Marketing with technical aspects of promotional materials.
Prepare and deliver training and technical presentations.
Evaluate process media and recommend compatible materials of construction.
Assist with testing for acquisition of nozzle performance and/or process data.
Assist internal and external customers with application questions and issues.
Participate in trade shows and Sales calls.
Perform field measurements and provide Engineering commissioning support.
Work on multiple projects and exercise sound independent judgement on trade-offs required in order to meet goals.  
Other responsibilities as required.

Business Unit and Market Specific Responsibilities

 Industrial

Header layout design for optimal spray distribution.
Lance layout design for tank cleaning applications.
Evaluate custom nozzle requests and recommend modifications.
Liquid impact calculations.

 Environmental

Prepare Process and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID’s).
Perform gas cooling and stoichiometric calculations.
Pipe sizing calculations.
Thermal expansion calculations.

 Chemical

Prepare Process and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID’s).
Prepare Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s).
Perform gas cooling and stoichiometric calculations.
Pipe sizing calculations.
Thermal expansion calculations.

 Metallurgical

Header layout design for optimal spray distribution.
Mill audits and reports for descaling, roll cooling and continuous casting.
Pipe stress calculations.
Liquid impact calculations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no direct supervisor responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience:                             

BS degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
Advanced degree in Engineering or related field is a plus.
Minimum of 2-5 years industry experience is desirable.

Language Skills:                                            

Must be proficient in English and possess the ability to read, to analyze, and to interpret common scientific/technical literature, financial reports, and/or legal documents.
Possess the ability to respond to common inquires or complaints from customer, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Possess the ability to effectively and clearly present information to management.
Possess the ability to read and interpret business related documents.
Ability to speak, write and communicate in German or Spanish is a plus.

Mathematical Skills:                                                

Have the ability to work with fundamental mathematical concepts, such as probability and statistical inferences.
Understand the fundamentals of plane and solid geometry.
Possess the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:                                                    

Have the ability to identify problems, to collect data, to establish facts, and to draw valid conclusions. Have the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and to deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Technology and Equipment:

 Basic knowledge in the use of AutoCAD and/or Inventor.
Proficient with the latest Microsoft Office products.

Other Qualifications and Abilities:                                            

Occasional travel within North America and abroad will depend on the projects.
