Title:  AmeriCorps- Life & Workforce Readiness 

Department: Programs- Life & Workforce Readiness

Supervisor: LWR Program Manager

Salary Grade: Stipend 

The candidate will receive a total stipend of $6,975 over 15 pay periods upon completion of 450 total hours. This equates to $465 per pay period.

Over the course of the 7.5-month assignment, the candidate is expected to work an average of approximately 15 hours per week.

Job Summary:

Responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing, and implementing programs/activities in Relation to the Life & Workforce Readiness programs for Club members ages 12-19.

Responsibilities:

• In conjunction with the team, work with and support the enhancement of existing Boys & Girls Clubs Life & Workforce Readiness programming throughout the Clubs in the Greater Milwaukee Area.

• Assist in one or more of the following:

• Assist with studio programming, production and recording as guided by Notes for Notes Studio Manager.

• Assist with bicycle mechanics training programming, fix donated bicycles as guided by the BGC B!ke shop Program Manager.

• Conduct music lessons (piano, drums, etc.) weekly as scheduled by the A.M.P. Music Advisor.

• Coordinate Academic & Career Plan pre and post assessments for Career Development participants, as well as provide ongoing monitoring of their academic progress.

• Facilitate and coordinate math, science and/or English tutoring access activities including assisting youth with the completion of schoolwork.

• Mentor High School students. Assist with the LWR evaluation process.

• Make parental contacts when students are absent in programming components. Develop and implement lesson plans to facilitate student learning.

• Routinely assess (formally and informally) each cohort of students assigned.

• Use approved curricula properly and maintain appropriate teacher to student ratio and other program-specific requirements and expectations.

• Supervise students engaged in quality activities to achieve specific goals and outcomes measurements.

• Encourage emotional, social, and educational growth of individual students. Generate monthly, quarterly, and/or annual reports as requested.

• Meet all deadlines.

• Attend AmeriCorps meetings and events, as requested.

• Other tasks, as assigned

Education and/or Certification Requirements:

• Senior in high school or enrolled in college.

• Within 6 months of hire:

o CPR

o First Aid

Skills and Experience:

• Program development and small group implementation.

• Highly organized with attention to detail.

• Works effectively with families from a variety of cultural, linguistic, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds,

• Good communication skills, both oral and written

• Understands basic benchmarks for member growth and development.

• Ability to recognize that members have individual needs, characteristics, abilities, and rates of development.

• Understands confidentiality guidelines and protects children, youth, and family confidentiality.

• Awareness of local and state curriculum frameworks and standards.

• Appreciates new ideas and learning opportunities and conducts a space of excellence and quality.
