Grade UE04: £26,093 - £28,778 per annum, pro-rata

Fixed-term: for 12 months starting October 2026 (or as soon as possible thereafter)

The Opportunity:

This is an opportunity to join the University of Edinburgh's Alwaleed Centre, supporting project delivery and promoting the work of one of the UK's leading centres for research and public engagement on Islam and the contemporary Muslim world.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and organised Projects Assistant to play an important role in the delivery of the Centre's many outward facing projects and help promote them through the Centre’s website and social platforms (currently X, Instagram, and YouTube). You will work closely with staff, academics, and external collaborators to help showcase research, support public engagement activities, and build connections with global audiences.

A central focus of the post will be supporting the Alwaleed Cultural Network (ACN) - a unique international network of universities, museums, and cultural organisations spanning three continents. You will assist in coordinating ACN initiatives, creating engaging digital content, and maintaining the network's online presence.

This role would be ideal for a postgraduate student looking for a flexible, research-adjacent role to complement their studies. The role is hybrid, however it is expected that the post holder will work on campus at least one day a week.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently, using initiative and sound judgement when required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders.
• A creative approach to communications, with enthusiasm for finding new ways to engage audiences.
• Experience creating engaging digital content for social media, websites and other online platforms.
