AI & ML Engineering Coach

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an AI & ML Engineering Coach based in United States.

This contract coaching role is designed for experienced AI and machine learning engineers who want to help develop the next generation of technical talent.
You will coach students and early-career professionals pursuing careers in artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Your expertise will help mentees strengthen their resumes, prepare for technical interviews, and build compelling projects and portfolios.
You’ll draw on hands-on experience with production-level ML systems, models, infrastructure, and real-world AI applications.
The role combines technical mentorship with practical career guidance in a fast-moving, AI-focused environment.
Coaches work virtually, set their own schedules and rates, and collaborate with a broader coaching team to deliver a high-quality experience.
It’s an opportunity to directly support ambitious professionals as they build the skills and confidence needed for AI/ML careers.

Accountabilities

• Coach students and early-career candidates pursuing roles in artificial intelligence and machine learning.

• Provide personalized guidance based on each mentee’s career goals, technical background, and target roles.

• Review and strengthen resumes, helping candidates communicate their AI/ML experience and technical achievements effectively.

• Prepare mentees for technical interviews through mock interviews, technical discussions, and targeted feedback.

• Advise candidates on building relevant AI/ML projects and portfolios that demonstrate practical engineering capabilities.

• Explain AI/ML concepts, engineering practices, and production applications clearly to learners with varying levels of experience.

• Draw on hands-on experience with production ML systems, models, infrastructure, and real-world AI applications to provide practical mentorship.

• Conduct coaching sessions virtually while maintaining a professional, engaging, and supportive experience.

• Set and manage your coaching availability and rates independently.

• Collaborate with the coaching team to maintain consistent quality and contribute to an effective mentorship experience.

Requirements

• Professional experience as an AI/ML Engineer or in a closely related artificial intelligence or machine learning engineering role.

• Experience working with production-level machine learning systems, models, infrastructure, or related AI technologies.

• Strong understanding of AI/ML fundamentals combined with practical knowledge of how these technologies are applied in real-world environments.

• Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to students, early-career professionals, and candidates with different levels of technical expertise.

• Experience with technical interviewing, engineering projects, ML portfolios, or career development is valuable.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to provide constructive, actionable feedback.

• Demonstrated interest in mentoring, coaching, teaching, or helping others develop technical and professional skills.

• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment and manage a flexible coaching schedule.

• Strong judgment, empathy, and adaptability when tailoring guidance to individual mentee needs.

• Comfort operating in a fast-paced, AI-focused environment and staying current with developments across the AI/ML ecosystem.
