Job Description
Youth Development Professional
Part-Time, Seasonal | $15.00/hour | Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–7:00 PM
About the Role:
The Youth Development Professional works directly with kids and teens in our after-school programs, helping them build confidence, stay on track academically, and grow socially in a safe, supportive environment. This is a hands-on, front-line role — you'll be running activities, helping with homework, mentoring, and keeping the club running smoothly during program hours.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be 18 or older
- Experience working with kids or teens (paid or volunteer) preferred, but not required
- Reliable and punctual — able to work 2:00–7:00 PM, Monday–Friday
- Ability to pass background check, CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a school, camp, or youth program setting
- Bilingual abilities
- Interest in sports, arts, STEM, or academic tutoring
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and engage youth participants during structured activities (homework help, games, arts, sports, etc.)
- Build positive, trusting relationships with members
- Help maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming club environment
- Support daily attendance and program documentation
- Work with site staff to keep activities running on schedule
- Address behavior and safety concerns calmly and consistently
- Communicate with parents/guardians as needed
Skills:
Strong communication and patience with kids, ability to manage a group, reliability, and a genuine interest in helping youth succeed.

In addition, we provide the latest proven youth development programs with all activities supervised by trained professional staff members and dedicated volunteers. The staff works hard to provide positive experiences for youth on a daily basis. Bus routes directly from all the schools in the Athens area provide opportunities for kids to attend regularly. The Boys & Girls Club is an asset to the Athens community. It gives the youth of Athens a place to play, work and learn.
