Job DetailsJob Location: United Community Center - Milwaukee, WI 53204Position Type: Part TimeSalary Range: $17.00 HourlyJob Shift: DayJob Category: EducationPOSITION SUMMARY: The candidate will work closely with the After School Program Coordinator and other members of the agency to provide direct care for K-8 program participants. The Group Leader will monitor and implement programming and activities across campus, collaborating with school staff and administrators, including community partners and volunteers. This person is crucial in promoting a safe and productive atmosphere for students to learn and grow.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Follows rules, policies, and regulations as outlined in the organization handbook and state/federal guidelines
Fulfills written and verbal assignments from supervisor in a timely manner
Supervises K-8 program participants and high school-aged volunteers during field trips, presentations, and onsite activities
Facilitates and leads group enrichment projects, athletics, team building exercises, workshops, and creative game play
Assigns, reviews, and evaluates participation and performance and recommends participants for discipline, termination, or retention
Models exemplary behavior for program participants 
Promotes life and social skills to program participants 
Facilitates conflict resolution when needed, with and between program participants, staff, and community partners
Promotes and ensures the safety of all students and staff
Keeps, records, and/or collects accurate daily attendance records for participants
Collaborates with team members and other departments to ensure successful program planning and execution 
Attends all meetings and training sessions as required by UCC, County, State and/or program funder(s)
Fulfills duties delegated by supervisor, director, and miscellaneous duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Demonstrated computer literacy skills, including internet navigation, Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications, and other basic data systems
Knowledge of youth development best practices and frameworks
Ability to interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
Must be honest, dependable, and able to meet deadlines
Self-motivated and proactively manages tasks, projects, and schedules
Skilled in engaging audiences and adapting to varied groups and event formats

 Qualifications
Proven and excellent leadership experience in a similar role
Proven ability to manage complex schedules and prioritize tasks effectively
Read and comprehend correspondence and memos with simple instructions and details
Ability to build collaborative relationships, internally and externally, while designing programs that will provide valuable experiences for program participants
Take proactive and creative approaches in resolving any challenges presented while on duty
Effectively present information in one-on-one, small, and large group situations to youth and other employees of the organization
Previous experience volunteering or working with youth is strongly desired
Demonstrated evidence of CPR, Concussion, and Mandated Reporter training will be required for the position (UCC will help to identify free/low-cost courses)

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work may be occasionally performed in classroom/school/recreational environments. Noise level in the work environment may be moderate to occasionally loud (ex.: loud voices during activities in classroom, recreational, or outdoor spaces). Ability to move around the school environment, including bending, kneeling, standing, walking, and going up and down stairs, for extended periods. Role may involve light physical activity, including lifting up to 25 pounds and participation in recreational activities.

WORKING SCHEDULE:

Scheduled hours and shifts will vary between the 2:30-5:00 pm timeframe, Monday through Friday
Depending on programming and events, additional hours or shifts may be coordinated
