After Care Counselor

 The Westfield Area YMCA is looking for caring, supportive and responsible individuals to join our team as After Care Counselors for school age children (K-5th) at our Cranford location. We are seeking candidates to work various shifts Monday through Friday from 2:00pm- 6:00pm, starting in in late August.

Counselors are expected to assist the Coordinator and Classroom/Group Supervisor in all aspects of planning, development and execution of the program daily activities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Accompany children (to playground, and exterior of building) in order to supervise activities, such as outdoor play and fire drills.
• Must be able to set up the classroom for activities in a safe manner.
• Assist with transporting of children by bus, as needed, always following bus policy and procedures.
• Help plan free play and learning center activities.
• Use positive reinforcement and ensure a fun and safe environment for all participants in the program.
• Be enthusiastic and encourage children involvement.

Location:  Elementary schools through Westfield
Pay :

Minors:  $16.00 per hour 

Adults:  $16.50 - $19.50 per hour, commensurate with education and experience

Requirements

• Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
• Basic experience working with children preferred.
• Ability to work as a team with other YMCA staff members.
