How can you make a difference?

The Maternal and Child Survival Forum will be held in Mexico City, Mexico, from 2 to 4 March 2027, and bring together stakeholders involved in addressing the main causes of maternal and under five children mortality. This two and a half day event, hosted by the Government of Mexico and co-hosted with the Gates Foundation and the Spanish Agency for International Development (AECID), will serve as a platform for knowledge sharing and for new and ambitious commitments to accelerate the achievement of SDG targets 3.1 on maternal mortality and 3.2 on child survival by 2030. Mexico is uniquely positioned to convene across the Americas and globally, and connect regional priorities to global partners, which will build on Mexico’s leadership in Financing for Development, while elevating a concrete regional opportunity to accelerate malaria elimination in Latin America and the Caribbean as part of the broader maternal and child survival agenda.

UNICEF is co-chairing the Communication and Advocacy Working Group, which will develop and deliver an advocacy and communications strategy that supports Forum objectives.

UNICEF is seeking a consultant from October 2026 to March 2027 to support activities with multiple Governments and partners which will secure concrete new commitments for children. The consultant will support the implementation of the advocacy and communication strategy, support activities during the Forum, and ensure that commitments and lessons are recognised and reported. The advocacy team requires a consultant who is fluent in Spanish to work with UNICEF offices and government counterparts effectively to deliver results and commitments over the coming months. To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have...

Minimum requirements:

• Education: Masters in Medicine, Epidemiology, Public Health, International Relations, Public Policy, International Development, Human Rights, Global Health, Communications, Journalism or similar.
• Work Experience: At least five (5) years of progressively responsible and relevant professional work experience in sectors associated with global and/or public health, advocacy and communication. 

• Excellent writing and research skills, including experience in writing short reports and briefings is essential. This is a requirement in English and Spanish.
• Experience in developing and creating advocacy materials, key messages, event briefings and concept and talking points.
• Proven experience in deploying a range of advocacy and communication tactics with governments and partners.
• Project management and coordination skills are required.
• Knowledge of children’s rights, public policy, and global health. 
• Experience in advocacy at the international level is an asset.

• Skills: Good working knowledge and experience across Microsoft SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Excel is required.  

• Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Spanish is required. Knowledge of Portuguese is an asset.
