Qualifications: About the Role:
At North Range Behavioral Health, our psychiatrists play a vital role in helping adults move toward recovery, stability, and a life of greater well-being. As part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, you’ll bring your expertise in psychiatry together with an understanding of the biological, psychological, and social factors that shape each person’s experience.
 

In this role, you’ll provide comprehensive psychiatric care—from evaluation and diagnosis to medication management and ongoing treatment—while developing person-centered plans that reflect each client’s unique needs, strengths, and goals. You’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact for individuals experiencing mental health, substance use, and emotional challenges while partnering with clients, families, caregivers, staff, and community providers to support continuity of care.
 

Beyond direct clinical care, you’ll serve as a trusted source of psychiatric consultation and education, helping strengthen the knowledge and capacity of those who support our clients. Your expertise will contribute not only to individual outcomes, but to North Range’s commitment to providing accessible, compassionate, and high-quality behavioral health services throughout our community.

This position includes eligibility for a monthly performance bonus.
 

What You Will Do:

Provide compassionate, whole-person psychiatric care

Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations to understand each client’s mental health, emotional, behavioral, and substance use needs, and develop thoughtful, evidence-based diagnoses and treatment recommendations.
Partner with clients to create individualized treatment plans that reflect their goals, strengths, preferences, and unique circumstances.
Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychiatric medications, including neuroleptics, using the electronic health record to support safe, effective, and coordinated care.
Order and interpret laboratory and other diagnostic testing when clinically appropriate, using the information to guide treatment decisions.
Evaluate medical concerns that may affect behavioral health and coordinate closely with clients’ primary care providers and other medical professionals to promote continuity of care.

Help clients understand and take an active role in their care

Provide clear, compassionate education about medications, treatment options, potential benefits and risks, and what clients can expect throughout their care.
Assess each client’s understanding of their treatment and provide written resources and additional education when appropriate.
Consider affordability and access when developing treatment plans, including medication formularies and prior authorization requirements, to help reduce barriers to care for clients.
 

Be part of a collaborative care team

Work alongside clinicians, case managers, program leaders, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to bring psychiatric expertise to assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing care.
Provide consultation and clinical guidance to colleagues, community partners, agencies, and other professionals to strengthen the behavioral health support available to clients.
Build strong, respectful working relationships across North Range and throughout the community, recognizing that meaningful recovery often depends on a coordinated network of support.
Support and provide clinical oversight to Advanced Practitioners when assigned.
 

Make an impact in crisis and acute care

Provide psychiatric evaluation and treatment for clients receiving acute and crisis services, helping teams identify the safest and least restrictive level of care.
When assigned, provide psychiatric oversight of the Acute Treatment Unit, including regular rounding and weekend coverage, to ensure clients receive responsive, high-quality care.
Participate in on-call responsibilities for acute care and crisis response services, helping ensure psychiatric expertise is available when clients need it most.
Complete evaluations and assessments for applicable short- and long-term certifications in accordance with clinical and regulatory requirements.
 

Strengthen the future of behavioral health care

Contribute your clinical expertise to the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of North Range medical treatment programs and departmental goals.
Participate in staff, committee, educational, quality improvement, and inter-agency meetings that advance clinical excellence and strengthen services for the community.
Support quality, compliance, and evidence-based practices while maintaining the highest standards of ethical and professional behavioral health care.
Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation and appropriate coding so that the care you provide is clearly communicated, supports continuity of treatment, and allows North Range to sustain the services our community depends on.
Work collaboratively with payors and internal teams to support appropriate authorizations and access to medically necessary services.
Maintain strong engagement with clients and the care team while meeting established standards for appointments, clinical services, and documentation.

You’re a Great Fit If You:
 

Education/Credentials:  

Degree of Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from an accredited School of Medicine 

Active license to practice psychiatry in the state of Colorado 

Must have and maintain a current Controlled Substances Registration Certificate from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration 

Board eligible or Board Certified 

Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) highly desired 

Experience: 

Completion of a four-year residency in psychiatry   

Solid working knowledge of and demonstrated ability to use current diagnostic system  

Demonstrated ability to plan and use effective interventions with clients within the scope of commonly accepted standards of practice 

Experience in Community Mental Health highly desired  

Practice with integrated health care model and/or telepsychiatry preferred
