Adjunct Professor of Genetics

Job DetailsJob Location: Kansas - Olathe, KSJob Summary: MidAmerica Nazarene University, located in Olathe, Kansas, invites qualified candidates to apply for an Adjunct Professor to teach a Genetics lecture course and corresponding lab. This course is the study of the fundamental principles of inheritance considering the molecular, cytological, and population evidence. This course is a requirement for all Biology majors. The instructor must be willing to travel to MNU. Genetics lecture is being offered on Mondays and Thursday 8:00-9:15. Genetics lab is being offered on Tuesdays 3:00-6:00.

Responsibilities:

Teach undergraduate section of Genetics and related lab
Develop and deliver engaging course materials, including syllabi, lectures, labs, and assessments aligned with the course learning outcome
Facilitate laboratory sessions, ensuring student safety and competency in standard genetic techniques
Integrate current scientific literature and real-world applications into coursework
Thoughtfully address the intersection of genetics and Christian faith within the curriculum where appropriate
Respond to student inquiries in a timely manner
Provide meaningful, constructive feedback on assignments and exams

QualificationsEducation Qualifications/Skills Required:

Earned Doctorate (Ph.D.) or Master's degree (M.S. or M.A.) in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biological Sciences, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution
Demonstrated commitment to the Christian faith and alignment with the University's statement of faith
Ability to teach from within a Christian worldview framework without compromising academic rigor or scientific integrity
Strong communication skills and the ability to engage diverse learners effectively

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

This is a part-time, semester-by-semester appointment
Course loads are assigned based on departmental need and enrollment
Compensation is provided on a per-credit-hour basis in accordance with university adjunct pay schedules.
Genetics course and lab are in-person at MNU in Olathe, KS
