Position Summary

Dominican University's Brennan School of Business seeks part-time Adjunct Faculty to teach one or more Finance course sections during the Spring 2027 semester, at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Available sections span undergraduate corporate finance, investments coursework, and graduate-level financial management. Candidates may apply for a single section or indicate interest in multiple sections.

Available Course Sections

FIN 301 Corporate Finance

Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 930am – 10:20am | On Campus | January 11 – May 7, 2027

This course examines important issues from the perspective of financial managers responsible for making investment and financing decisions. Students learn how to create a framework for understanding and addressing financial problems faced by corporate decision makers and then apply this framework to business situations. Topics in this course include time value of money, risk and return, valuation of debt and equity, capital budgeting, project risk analysis, and capital structure decisions. 

FIN 322-01: Investments and Portfolio Management (Undergraduate)

Monday/Wednesday, 9:30 AM – 10:20 AM | On Campus | January 11 – May 7, 2027

This course builds upon the introductory corporate finance course and examines practical approaches to stock management and fixed income investment portfolios. Students learn the basics of bond pricing and debt portfolio management, the theory of asset pricing models, and techniques for evaluating investments. Topics in this course include modern portfolio theory, mutual funds and exchange-traded funds, derivative securities, and tax-advantaged investments.

FIN 605-01: Financial Management (Graduate)

Online, Asynchronous | January 11 – May 7, 2027

This course explores emerging topics in the financial field. Topics include bond and stock valuation, risk management, capital budgeting, cash flow estimation, capital structure theory, mergers and acquisitions, and initial public offerings. Students will utilize case studies and spreadsheet applications in this course.

Essential Instructional Responsibilities

Adjunct faculty are appointed on a course-by-course basis and are responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, engaging students, and supporting achievement of course learning outcomes. Essential responsibilities include:

• Deliver course instruction consistent with the approved syllabus and learning outcomes.
• Prepare instructional materials, assignments, and assessments appropriate to the discipline.
• Foster an engaging and inclusive learning environment that supports student success.
• Submit grades and required academic records accurately and on time.
• Maintain reasonable availability to students, including scheduled office hours.
• Respond to student communications in a timely manner.
• Administer course evaluations.
• Follow university academic policies and student accommodation procedures.
• Coordinate with the Associate Dean and the Department Chair regarding course delivery and academic matters.

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree in Finance, or a Master's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in finance, from an AACSB-accredited institution.
• At least three to five years of professional or academic experience in investments, portfolio management, corporate finance or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in financial management concepts and practices at a level appropriate for graduate instruction.

Preferred Qualifications

• CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), CFP (Certified Financial Planner) certifications or other relevant professional financial licensures.
• Prior college-level teaching experience.
• Experience teaching finance in person or online.
• Experience using Canvas or another learning management system.
• Other relevant professional or applied experience in Accounting.

Compensation

• Salary Range: $3,000 - $4,500 per course
• Compensation is based on credentials, experience, course level, and credit hours.
• FLSA Status: Exempt, Part-Time (Adjunct Faculty)

Physical Demands

• Ability to spend long durations of the workday sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
