Adjunct Faculty, Archaeology and Biblical Studies

Position Description

The Lanier Center for Archaeology at Lipscomb University seeks qualified adjunct faculty to teach courses in the M.A. program in Archaeology and Biblical Studies. Adjunct faculty will provide instruction in an archaeological specialization and contribute to the academic mission of the Lanier Center for Archaeology.

Teaching Responsibilities

• Teach assigned M.A.-level archaeology course(s) in accordance with Lipscomb University and Lanier Center for Archaeology policies.
• Prepare and deliver graduate-level course content appropriate to the assigned subject area.
• Evaluate student work and provide timely, substantive feedback.
• Maintain course materials, grades, and other required records in accordance with University procedures.
• Communicate regularly with students and participate in required departmental or program activities related to the course.

Qualifications

• Earned doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Archaeology of the Ancient Near, Archaeology, Ancient Near Eastern Studies, Biblical Archaeology, or a closely related field, or status of ABD with professional experience related to the specific course being taught.
• Demonstrated expertise in the subject area of the course to be taught.
• Teaching experience preferred.
• Evidence of scholarly engagement and/or professional experience appropriate to the course assignment.

Appointment and University Requirements

Adjunct appointments are subject to Lipscomb University approval procedures and applicable academic and accreditation requirements. Candidates selected for appointment must complete the University's adjunct approval and hiring process, including submission of official transcripts, completion of required background checks, and completion of required training.
