This position is responsible for teaching Business courses that align with CGCC course outcome guides. The instructor is also responsible for performing other instruction-related activities including course planning, assessment and evaluation. This position is open for Winter term 2027.

Courses encompass a variety of business and computer applications disciplines, including:

Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Entrepreneurship, Communication, Management, Business Technology, Business Ethics, Human Resources, Human Relations, Business Law, Computer Applications (e.g., Microsoft Office®, Adobe Photoshop®), keyboarding & 10-key skills, Social Media/Digital Marketing, Desktop Publishing, Graphic Design, Records Management

Where we are…

Columbia Gorge Community College serves a diverse region in north-central Oregon and south-central Washington. CGCC acknowledges we are on the homelands of the Confederated Tribe of the Yakama Nation and neighboring tribes as well as the 14 bands along the Inchi I’wana (Columbia River). Our main campus is within the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area in The Dalles, Oregon.  We also have a beautiful site in the city of Hood River.

Organizations like Comunidades, The Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission, Washington Gorge Action Programs, and The Next Door are representative of the groups that span the Gorge area to provide community resources and leadership. Manufacturing, technology, and IT companies are expanding rapidly in the area, which is home to companies such as Insitu, Tofurky, Cardinal Glass, Sagetech, HoodTech, and Google. Portland is roughly an hour away, with its various urban attractions and access to international travel.

What you will do…

• Serve as adjunct instructor for the Business program.
• Planning and teaching classes as assigned and as outlined in the course descriptions and course syllabi.
• Supervising the study and learning activities of students assigned.
• Submitting requests through the department chair, program coordinator, or lead instructor for equipment, supplies, textbooks, and other instructional aides.
• Evaluating the academic progress of students. 
• Demonstrating knowledge of services, regulations, and procedures as defined in the Faculty Handbook.
• Submitting course grades and performing other administrative duties as required.
• Scheduling office hours.
• Business courses are held in three formats: live in a classroom (face-to-face), simultaneously via Zoom (synchronous), and “online” (asynchronously). Instructors must be able and be available to teach using all three formats.

Requirements

What you bring…

• Master’s degree in the subject area and three (3) years recent, full-time, non-teaching experience in the field; or
• Master’s degree in a related area plus 24 quarter hours of upper division credit in the subject area, and three (3) years recent, full-time, non-teaching work experience in the field; or 
• Bachelor’s degree in the subject area and four (4) years recent, full-time, non-teaching work experience in the field; or 
• Bachelor’s degree in a related area, plus 24 quarter hours upper division credit in the subject area, plus four (4) years recent, full-time, non-teaching work experience in the field; or 
• Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in subject area or professional education plus five (5) years recent, full-time, non-teaching work experience in the field, or demonstrated competency and/or qualifications set by licensing organization in the field. 

Minimum Requirements….

• Experience or training in one or more of the following subject areas:

• Experience with face-to-face, synchronous, and asynchronous teaching methods and associated technology.
• Thorough understanding of the curriculum in assigned instructional area. 
• Knowledge of instructional delivery, the elements of effective teaching and learning, and the principles of adult education. 
• Knowledge of Open Education Resources (OER) desired.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to work cooperatively with staff, faculty, and students. 
• Ability to work independently. 
• Strong commitment to student success. 
• Strong commitment to innovation, collaboration, and quality. 
• Ability to stay current in the field through professional development and self-study. 
• Ability to use computer technology for communication and instructional purposes.
