Adaptive Skills Trainer (Bachelor’s Level Direct Support Specialist)

Overview

The Adaptive Skills Trainer provides full-time, 1:1 support to individuals receiving adaptive skill-building services. This bachelor’s-level role focuses on increasing independence, functional life skills, and socially meaningful behaviors in home and community-based settings.

This position is comparable to a 1:1 Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) role, with a broader emphasis on adaptive functioning, daily living skills, and real-world application.

Schedule: Part-Time and Full-Time positions up to 30 hours per week

Pay Range: $23–$28 per hour (based on experience)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct 1:1 support based on individualized adaptive skills plans

• Implement skill-building interventions targeting daily living, communication, social skills, and emotional regulation

• Follow behavior support plans and evidence-based strategies

• Collect data and document progress accurately and consistently

• Support clients in home and community-based environments

• Collaborate with supervisors, clinical staff, and interdisciplinary team members

• Maintain client safety, dignity, and confidentiality

• Communicate professionally with families and care teams

• Adhere to all agency policies, ethical standards, and documentation requirement

Qualifications and Experience

• Required: Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Human Services, Social Work, Education, Behavioral Science, or a related field
• Experience providing 1:1 support to individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioral needs, or mental health challenges preferred
• Familiarity with ABA principles, adaptive skills training, or behavior support strategies strongly preferred
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently while following structured plans and supervision
• CPR Certification – If you are not certified, we will pay for your certification

• Driving is required 
• Reliable transportation and ability to work in community-based settings

Adaptive Skills Trainer – Master’s Level Direct Support Specialist

Overview

The Adaptive Skills Trainer – Master’s Level Direct Support Specialist provides 1:1 support to individuals receiving adaptive skill-building services. This advanced direct support role is designed for master’s-level professionals who bring a higher level of clinical insight, critical thinking, and professionalism to hands-on client care.

This position is comparable to an advanced 1:1 Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) role, with an expanded focus on adaptive functioning, independence, daily living skills, and community integration. Staff work under clinical supervision while exercising greater autonomy in implementation, modeling, and problem-solving.

Schedule: Part-Time / Full-Time (up to 30 hours per week) Days/Weekends/Evenings

Pay Range: $28–$38 per hour (based on experience)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality 1:1 direct support based on individualized adaptive skills and service plans

• Implement and model advanced skill-building strategies targeting daily living, communication, emotional regulation, social skills, and independence

• Follow behavior support plans and apply evidence-based interventions with fidelity

• Collect, analyze, and document client data accurately and consistently

• Support clients in home, community, and program-based settings

• Collaborate closely with supervisors, clinical staff, and interdisciplinary team members

• Provide feedback and observational insights to support treatment planning and adjustments

• Maintain client safety, dignity, and confidentiality at all times

• Communicate professionally with families, caregivers, and care teams

• Adhere to all ethical standards, documentation requirements, and organizational policies

Qualifications and Experience

• Required: Master’s degree in Psychology, Behavior Analysis, Social Work, Counseling, Education, Human Services, or a related field
• Experience providing 1:1 direct support or clinical services to individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioral needs, or mental health challenges preferred
• Strong working knowledge of ABA principles, adaptive skills training, and behavior support strategies
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with a high level of professionalism and accountability
• Strong communication, organization, and clinical judgment skills
• Reliable transportation and ability to work in home and community-based settings
