Position Summary

The Activities Assistant helps create and deliver engaging programs that enrich the lives of our residents. This role assists with planning, organizing, and leading a variety of social, recreational, educational, spiritual, and wellness activities designed to support a vibrant community atmosphere.

Essential Responsibilities

Assist in assessing residents' interests, abilities, and needs to help develop meaningful activity programs.
Plan, organize, lead, and participate in group and one-on-one activities.
Set up and clean up activity areas and materials.
Support resident outings and special events.
Use appropriate techniques such as validation, redirection, and reality orientation when interacting with residents.
Collaborate with Life Enrichment team members to promote healthy mind, body, and spirit programming.
Attend required training and in-service education programs.
Follow all Covenant Village policies, procedures, mission, and CV CARES Core Values.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Computer skills, typing proficiency, and internet knowledge required.
Ability to relate positively and respectfully to older adults of varying functional abilities.
Strong organizational, communication, and creative skills.
Professional customer service and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and special events.
Valid driver's license with a safe driving record required.
Ability to safely transport residents using Covenant Village vehicles.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to push wheelchairs and assist residents as needed.
Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, reach, pull, push, and perform repetitive movements.
Ability to communicate clearly with residents, including those with hearing impairments.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
