Acquisition Operations Specialist

LMI seeks an Acquisition Operations Specialist to support a Department of War mission partner synchronize procurement, contracting, fielding, and sustainment actions for autonomous systems and related emerging technologies. The specialist translates operational demand into executable acquisition packages, coordinates government and industry stakeholders, and maintains visibility from requirement identification through delivery and fielding. The ideal candidate understands rapid capability acquisition and advances complex actions while maintaining procedural discipline and audit-ready documentation.

This position requires on-site support in Tampa, Florida and an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance. The position requires periodic travel to supported commands, operational units, exercises, test events, and industry locations.

Responsibilities

• Translate operational requirements and sustainment demand into clear acquisition objectives, procurement packages, statements of work, performance requirements, and supporting documentation.
• Conduct and document market research, vendor discovery, capability comparisons, acquisition pathway analysis, and procurement planning.
• Coordinate acquisition actions across operational users, requirements personnel, contracting officers, program managers, logisticians, security personnel, legal advisors, financial stakeholders, and industry partners.
• Maintain integrated acquisition schedules, action trackers, decision logs, procurement status, delivery milestones, risks, and dependencies.
• Support use of appropriate acquisition pathways, including existing contracts, task orders, Other Transaction Authority, Small Business Innovation Research Phase III, Commercial Solutions Openings, and other approved rapid mechanisms.
• Align procurement quantities, delivery schedules, training, technical data, warranties, spares, field support, and property requirements with sustainment plans.
• Prepare acquisition strategies, approval packages, independent research, briefing materials, and responses to leadership or contracting questions.
• Coordinate vendor engagements and technical exchanges in accordance with procurement integrity and organizational conflict-of-interest requirements.
• Support evaluation of proposed solutions for mission relevance, technical maturity, compliance, delivery risk, supportability, and integration requirements.
• Track actions from requirement validation through award, delivery, acceptance, property accountability, and operational fielding.
• Identify acquisition barriers and recommend compliant courses of action that reduce cycle time and improve delivery predictability.
• Maintain accurate, organized, and review-ready acquisition records.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in acquisition, contracting, business administration, supply chain management, engineering, operations, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• Four or more years of experience in Department of Defense acquisition, procurement, contracting support, program operations, requirements development, or a closely related field.
• Active TS/SCI clearance.
• Working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation, Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement, acquisition planning, market research, requirements documentation, and contract execution processes.
• Experience preparing acquisition packages, statements of work, performance work statements, independent government cost estimates, market research, or other procurement documentation.
• Experience coordinating acquisition actions across government program, contracting, operational, technical, logistics, security, and industry stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple procurement actions, deadlines, dependencies, and approval requirements simultaneously.
• Strong research, writing, documentation, briefing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and acquisition tracking tools.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and protect procurement-sensitive and proprietary information.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience supporting a combatant command acquisition organization, a combatant command, or a Service acquisition organization.
• Experience acquiring uncrewed systems, robotics, software, sensors, communications equipment, or other emerging technology.
• Experience with rapid acquisition pathways, non-traditional defense contractors, prototyping, demonstrations, and transition to production.
• Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act, Federal Acquisition Certification, Project Management Professional, or related certification.

The target salary range for this position is $163,000 - 181,000
