This is a part-time (20 hours/week), position with expected hours to be worked during business hours of Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, the Accounting Assistant will provide clerical support to the Accounting department and staff. The Accounting Assistant will perform general office and reception duties.

Essential Job Functions:

• Perform receptionist’s duties including: answering telephones, taking and relaying of messages distributing mail, processing inquiries
• Perform office duties including: data entry, scanning documents, filing, making photocopies and delivering checks
• Ensure customer service is conducted in a courteous and professional manner to customers and all other employees
• Assist customers with check pick-up
• Assist customers with cash or check deposits
• Maintain a working knowledge of the department policies and procedures
• Receive and verify incoming check requests
• Assist with creating invoices and weekly check process
• Assist with check mailing and distribution process
• Other projects and duties as assigned

Customer Service & Collaboration:

• Establishes and maintains working relationships with various A.S. and University departments

Safety:

• Ensures all operations are conducted with safety of staff and customers as first priority, and in accordance with the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan and other safety policies.
• Reports accidents to supervisor and reviews changes required to avoid reoccurrence.
• Reports maintenance problems and/or broken and unsafe equipment to the appropriate party or supervisor immediately

Requirements:

Must be a currently enrolled California State University Fullerton student in good academic standing

Qualifications:

• Customer service experience – preferred
• Prior office experience – preferred
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) required

Work Environment:

• General office environment
• Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking around campus.
• The working environment is generally favorable
• Lighting and temperature are adequate
• There are no hazardous or unpleasant work conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
• Work is generally performed in an office environment, with standard office equipment available

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift, lower, push and pull loads ranging in weight from 5-35 lbs
