Full-time position

Monday – Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm

Remote position – must reside in the greater Chicago, Illinois area for customer needs.

Travel: Approximately 25%, or as needed to support the assigned sales territory.

Outside Sales:

This outside sales role is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, growing existing customer relationships, developing territory sales plans, and supporting revenue growth within the ocean transportation and logistics industry. The Account Executive will work cross-functionally with internal teams to deliver responsive, value-driven solutions and a strong customer experience.

Account Executive Position Responsibilities:

• Identifyand develop new business opportunities within the assigned sales territory.
• Maintain and grow existing customer accounts through regular communication, customer meetings, and business reviews.
• Develop and execute sales plans focused on revenue growth, customer value, and contribution improvement.
• Support bids, pricing discussions, customer proposals, and contract opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal teams including Trades department (pricing/rates), Customer Service department, Operations department, and the Sales department.
• Monitor market conditions, customer needs, and competitive activity to support sales strategy.
• Adhere to OOCL’s competition compliance policies and procedures in all business activities.
• Represent OOCL professionally in customer-facing and industry-related interactions.

Account Executive Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of sales experience in ocean transportation, steamship, freight forwarding, logistics, or related transportation industry.
• Outside sales, territory sales, or account management experience.
• Mustresidein or near Chicago, Illinois. 
• Bachelors degree.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required.
• Ability to travel approximately 25%, or as needed.

Preferred Skills:

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook, and SharePoint. 
• Strong customer relationship management and business development skills. 
• Strong organization, planning, and prioritization abilities. 
• Ability to work independently and manage a territory. 
• Adaptable with effective written and oral communication. 
• Negotiation and interpersonal skills. 

The annualized base salary for this position ranges from $70,000.00 to $85,000.00 excluding fringe benefits.  If hired at OOCL, the final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience.  In addition to those factors, we also consider internal equity as part of any final offer.  Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.  All full-time employees enjoy these outstanding benefits, while in a safe, friendly, clean, business casual office environment.
