Account Director

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Account Director based in the United States.

The Account Director will lead a high-profile federal marketing and communications account supporting a national Trusted Traveler program.
You’ll serve as the primary client contact while guiding multidisciplinary teams across strategy, media, creative, digital, social, and project management.
The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on account oversight, ensuring integrated campaigns deliver measurable awareness, enrollment, and customer-experience outcomes.
You’ll shape communications plans, oversee media programs, manage major deliverables, and coordinate domestic and international industry events.
Success requires strong client leadership, strategic thinking, organization, and the ability to navigate complex government environments.
The position offers a remote working environment with occasional travel for client engagements and events.
This is a contingent position subject to client approval, security requirements, and any applicable on-site obligations.

Accountabilities

• Serve as the primary account lead and client contact, overseeing account performance, client relationships, deliverables, and day-to-day contract execution.

• Lead cross-functional teams spanning strategic planning, media, digital and social media, creative, copywriting, and project coordination.

• Oversee the development and refinement of integrated communications strategies, ensuring messaging, creative, media, and events align with branding, customer-experience, user-experience, and international audience priorities.

• Direct comprehensive media planning and execution, including creative concepts, advertising schedules, audience reach, sentiment analysis, cost analysis, and KPI and marketing analytics reporting.

• Guide the development of marketing collateral, advertisements, informational materials, signage, video content, creative assets, and social media campaigns.

• Coordinate staffing, logistics, and operational support for approximately four domestic and international trade shows and conferences each year, including exhibit setup and teardown, interpretation services, and post-event reporting.

• Oversee timely preparation and submission of campaign reports, conference reports, and other client deliverables.

• Manage integrated project schedules and monthly progress and cost reporting, ensuring milestones, deliverables, and invoicing remain aligned with contractual requirements.

• Facilitate account kickoff meetings and ongoing client communications while documenting meeting minutes, action items, decisions, and approvals.

• Support the preparation of responses and briefing materials for senior government leadership, Congress, federal agencies, and other relevant organizations regarding program activities and impacts.

• Maintain compliance with contractual data-rights, confidentiality, security, and professional-conduct requirements.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of account management experience within an advertising or marketing agency environment.

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.

• Demonstrated experience managing major client accounts and leading cross-functional teams for federal government clients.

• Experience supporting complex federal projects, transformation initiatives, and sophisticated client relationships.

• Strong strategic thinking skills and the ability to anticipate developments in marketing trends, technologies, and communications practices.

• Excellent problem-solving, critical-thinking, analytical, organizational, and time-management abilities.

• Ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines, and complex deliverables in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present ideas, solutions, and recommendations logically and clearly.

• Collaborative, proactive, flexible, and action-oriented approach, with the ability to remain composed under pressure.

• Ability to quickly understand complex issues, incorporate client feedback, and implement changes effectively.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Homeland Security suitability/public trust clearance.

• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
