Music Accompanist (Part-Time)

Provides musical accompaniment to other musicians and to singers.

Part Time Hours: average of 17.5 hours every two weeks

Schedule: 11:15am-2:45pm

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Accompanies music for practices and performances.

•     Provides piano accompaniment to the music department for classes (choir and musical theatre), concerts, rehearsals, contests (choir and band), and other celebrations

• Improvises accompaniments from lead sheets

• Assists in preparation for concerts include program coordination, guest performers, stage setup and teardown on an as needed basis

• Assists the classroom teacher in maintaining a classroom environment conductive to learning.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Ability to read and play traditional and contemporary music for a variety of conductors and soloists.

• Knowledge of the subject matter.

• Ability to communicate in an articulate, professional manner while maintaining necessary degree of confidentiality.

• Ability to adapt responses to situations while maintaining procedural and regulatory integrity.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous accompanist experience required.

• Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
