Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Access Control Technician to support commercial security installation projects across North Charleston and surrounding areas. This role involves working alongside experienced teams to install and support access control systems, card readers, door hardware, electronic locking devices, and other low voltage technologies.

Responsibilities

• Install access control devices including card readers, request-to-exit devices, door contacts, strikes, magnetic locks, and associated hardware.
• Assist with installation and integration of commercial security systems.
• Pull, terminate, label, and test low voltage cabling as required.
• Read and interpret basic drawings, wiring diagrams, and installation documentation.
• Support system testing, troubleshooting, startup, and commissioning activities.
• Troubleshoot wiring issues, device failures, and installation-related problems.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Sr. technicians to execute project schedules.
• Maintain a professional presence while working in customer facilities.
• Learn multiple access control and security platforms.
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate project status updates when necessary.

Essential Skills

• Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.
• Ability to travel throughout the service territory.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
• Basic understanding of circuits, wiring, and electrical concepts.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand tools and power tools.
• Strong communication skills.
• Stable work history.
• Desire to build a long-term career within the security industry.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous access control installation experience.
• Experience with electronic door hardware.
• Exposure to platforms such as Lenel, Genetec, Software House, Openpath, Avigilon.
• OSHA 10 certification.
• Scissor lift certification.
• Experience in commercial construction environments.
• Experience supporting integrated security systems.
• Customer-facing service experience.
• Proficient construction skills and understanding of system plans.
• Excellent understanding of blueprints, design drawings, wiring methods, and cable support installation.

Work Environment

Work on commercial projects Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. The role involves hands-on work with a variety of hand and power tools, and requires a solid understanding of blueprints, schematics, and installation procedures.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Charleston, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $31.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
