Access and Wellbeing Coordinator

Part Time, 28 Hours per Week

Position Overview:

For nearly fifty years, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston has prioritized accessibility, engaging audiences with disabilities through dedicated access and wellbeing programs, and providing the accommodations needed for a welcoming and comfortable museum experience for all visitors. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Accessibility, the Access and Wellbeing Programs Coordinator is responsible for administrative and operational tasks, as well as direct service and teaching, for programs focused on audiences with disabilities, and participants in wellbeing programs at the MFA. The role coordinates and facilitates programs such as Artful Healing, an off-site and virtual artmaking program for hospital-based audiences, Beyond the Spectrum, an on-site art and tour-based program for neurodiverse audiences, artmaking workshops for people with diverse disabilities, and wellness activations for all ages.

Essential Functions:

· Plan, implement, and teach art programs for visitors of all ages off-site, virtually and within the Museum’s galleries including programs such as Artful Healing, Beyond the Spectrum and wellness activations.

· Coordinate logistics for access programs and initiatives including email correspondence, scheduling meetings, reserving spaces, ordering supplies and processing contracts and invoices.

· Ensure access and wellbeing web events and communications are updated according to schedule.

· Schedule educators and volunteers for programs and events.

· Answer phone and email inquiries from visitors regarding accessibility at the Museum.

· Maintain accessibility tools including tactiles, iPads, assistive listening devices, and the low sensory space.

· Receive and process access program related evaluations.

· Regularly track and report on data related to program attendance.

· Provide support for Community Engagement programs and events such as Community Celebrations and Open House days as needed.

· Other tasks and duties as assigned.

Requirements and Characteristics:

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in museum education, special education, art education, studio art, or related field.

· One to three years of demonstrated experience with planning and leading education art programs for people with disabilities.

· Excellent curriculum development including latest best practices and adaptations.

· Administrative experience with excellent technology and organizational skills.

· Demonstrated flexibility, patience, and self-motivation.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

· Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings at the Museum.

· Work may require lifting or moving materials up to 25lbs.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· Strong attention to detail with excellent follow-through skills.

· Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills.
