Job Details: Job Location: Community Action Organization of WNY Inc - Buffalo, NY, Salary Range: $18.00 - $18.00Hourly, JOB SUMMARY
Performs activities necessary to maintain emergency food supplies and provides eligible customers with emergency foodstuffs, clothing, or other household items by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Reviews inventory records to determine quantities of foodstuffs required to stock pantry and prepares Food Bank requisitions and replenishes stock. Directs the preparation of emergency food allocations based upon family size and dietary needs of customers; assists in the distribution of emergency food supplies.
Distributes emergency clothing and household goods, when they are available, to eligible customers.
Keeps records pertaining to food distribution, inventory and requisitions; acts as agency liaison with Food Bank and other emergency food providers when needed.
Driving agency vehicle to provide door to door delivery and pick-ups for the food pantry.
Promptly reporting all vehicle maintenance issues to the Director of Emergency and Family Services.
Care and cleaning maintenance of vehicle: going to car wash, vacuum, tidying up vehicle, maintain record keeping of vehicle mileage log. Follow all cleaning, sanitizing and check in protocols and procedures.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and six months related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence, inventory lists. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICNESES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid NYS Driver’s license and ability to drive agency cargo van

The CAO is a community-based, citizen-driven organization founded in 1965 as part of our nation’s “war on poverty” and provides essential health & human services, educational and training programs to the poor, low-income citizens of Erie County, NY. The CAO serves the community through their network of more than 50 locations throughout Erie County. Through this network, CAO runs more than 50 children and family, crisis and emergency, neighborhood, employment and training, housing and development, drug and community technology programs and services. Our mission is to promote opportunities for low-income families and individuals to achieve and sustain self-sufficiency through advocacy, partnerships and services.
Each year we help more than 21,000 individuals and 9,000 families gain access to programs or services that might otherwise have not been available. The CAO also operates four resource centers in the city of Buffalo; the JFK Community Center, the Edward Saunders Community Center, the Pratt-Willert Community Center and the CAO Alphonso “Rafi” Greene Jr. Masten Resource Center. In addition, we operate a community resource center in Angola, NY. St. Martin Village, a 60 unit low-income housing complex at the site of what was once the German Roman Catholic Orphanage, is a recent addition to the CAO, and a community resource site which opened in 2012. We also initiated the Home Improvement Resource Program (HIRP) in 2012 and to date have provided millions of dollars in home improvement and weatherization resources to the community. In 2016, we also expanded our Head Start program to include three sites located within Niagara County.
